It is not common to see cane fires these ...days as the majority of cane is harvested green. However some farmers still choose to burn their cane, and this is to help with the harvesting of the cane and, in some instances, it may also help to improve the health of the field. See more

Meet Devraj (Dev) our new Sales Agronomist Devraj moved from Armidale to Mackay a month after submitting his PhD thesis to the University of New England. Devraj has more than 10 years experience in agriculture and worked as a soil scientist in Nepal Agricultural Research Council for more than six years. ... My focus for NQ Farmshed is to develop strong relationships with farmers and provide them with soil and nutrient recommendations as well as helping farmers get the best possible outcome for their crops. Dev is currently on the road with Wayne and Kerry so if you spot Dev be sure to say G’day as he will be happy to answer any soil health questions you may have.
