19.01.2022 Paddy was telling his mate Patrick about his best pal, Tommy. He told how Tommy was feeling fed up, down and despondent because he was over 3,000 behind with his mortgage and was about to have his home repossessed. He'd driven to the Cliffs of Moher, locked all the doors and was about to drive over to end it all when a total stranger asked him what the heck he was doing and why.... After Tommy told all, a group of total strangers had a whip-round and collected over 3,500 to help him. Tommy was overcome with joy and decided not to end it all and continued with his original journey. "Who the heck were those generous strangers" Patrick asked. Paddy replied "Oh, they were the passengers on Tommy's bus".
18.01.2022 Would this be true??

12.01.2022 NQIA SUPER WEEKEND. It doesn't happen often, but the First Friday and the Second Saturday fall on the same weekend this month. That means that we will be holding our First Friday Friends Of Guinness and the Jam/ Trad session on Saturday. Same venue (Molly Malone's) and same time (5 pm) but you get to do it on both days. NQIA Members will receive an email today and we ask that you reply for FFFOG as we have to confirm numbers for the table booking. Both events will comply with the venue's current COVID19 restrictions, so you must be seated in the venue. And did we mention -GUINNESS IS BACK ON TAP AT MOLLY'S!

04.01.2022 SOA 1 GF 3 It was a long awaited victory for GF as they were triumphant in this tight affair. GF were littered with injuries and a victory seemed out of reach o...n many occasions during the 70 minutes. The light breeze that has been blowing the last few weeks turned into a full on Gael on this occasion. When interviewed before the game Captain Cullen stated ‘the performance is what we are after tonight. If we perform to the best of our ability the results will start to come’. The words echoed throughout his players and the GF gave the Captain/Manager the performance he so desperately deserved. These two teams could not be separated earlier in the year with a 2-2 draw. The bookies couldn’t call it this evening making both teams $2.00. GF blasted out of the traps and that set the tone for the first half. The game was very much played on GF terms as they set the tempo and controlled all the significant passages of play. It was always going to be GF night as they got of to a flyer . A quick counter attack though gave SOA the first goal. Undeterred Gael Force pulled their luminous orange socks up and reapplied more of that early pressure forcing SOA to concede an own goal. Aman scores a peno shortly afterward and GF were into a steady rhythm. The back four were level headed and dealt with the talented SOA strikers well conceding only 1 goal and limiting them to a handful of shots on target. Dain, Paul, Daniel , Glenn , Jason in the second half made a defensive wall that Donald Trump would be proud of. The middle men were the real engine in Wulguru tonight with Dave professing ‘the middle men were the real engine in Wulguru tonight’. The Sexton brothers were like the Pogbas. And it was a firecracker from Greg that sealed the deal with the third goal late in the game. Abdullah worked well around the middle having just made the age cut. Normally very media shy DC went on to give a 90 minute post match interview to the waiting press. He praised the fact that nearly every player on the team knew the name of who they were playing with. This was key to the victory. When asked ‘How did ye win that game in 64 words or less?’ DC answered ‘Aman's constant challenging in the midfield opening up space, Nemu's blistering runs up the right wing , Greg's niggling and verbal taunts in mid field, My near miss volley, Michael Tory's come back from injury, Dave Kelsey's renewed ankle, lost compass at right back, Keeper Jaaon pulling off dynamoics dive ,a post injured Dave De Kievet playing striker for last 10 min, Daniel playing centreboard 2nd half.’ It was symbolic that the SOA defence coughed up possession close to their own goal which the GF strikers capitalised on. It was a moral boosting win and a real turning point in the season for GF. Dave informed the Townsville Tattler that the team was meeting every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday for a sprint session up Castle Hill and that’s what made the difference tonight. GF are at home to Brothers next week and it’s hoped that the teams away success can be brought to the home ground.
