25.01.2022 NQLA CONFERENCE POSTPONED We would like to thank all of our delegates, speakers and sponsors so much for supporting the 2020 Offermans North Queensland Law Association Conference. In the interest of the health and safety of delegates, speakers and sponsors, the NQLA is postponing its 2020 Offermans NQLA Conference in Mackay that was to be held 21 to 23 May 2020.... This difficult decision comes after recent announcements by the Australian Federal Government advising against all non-essential mass gatherings. Further, Judges have been directed that their public speaking engagements be cancelled. In the interest of reducing the inconvenience to our delegates, we are making the call to postpone now. The 2020 Offermans NQLA Conference program was full of great speakers, so we will be asking speakers if they are willing to postpone and join us at the postponed conference. We will keep you updated on the program as we work with the speakers on their availability. New dates are being confirmed and will be announced shortly. The NQLA will accommodate any refunds should you be unable to join us at the postponed conference. We apologise that this decision may cause inconvenience for delegates and really appreciate the understanding of our supporters as we navigate the best way to keep the profession healthy and productive.

19.01.2022 On day one, our commercial law stream will kick off with Jane FitzGerald of Counsel, who will be speaking to delegates on all things partnerships! Jane has been a barrister at the private Bar in Queensland since 2009. She has a commercial practice which encompasses contract, corporate, property, medical negligence, personal injury, judicial review, insurance and building and construction disputes. She appears in both state and federal jurisdictions. She is also a nationall...y accredited mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. Jane also teaches and provides communication consulting services in Australia and internationally. In Australia, she teaches and provides advocacy consulting services to the Bar Association of Queensland - Bar Practice Course, the Australian Advocacy Institute, the College of Law and to firms, groups and individuals offering communications advice and workshops. In the US, she provides advocacy training as part of the Building Trial Skills program offered by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA) in San Francisco and San Diego. She completed her teacher training in 2009, and achieved her Advocate and Master Advocate Designations from NITA in 2011.
