25.01.2022 The beekeepers breakfast. Sort of like a lumberjack (bacon, eggs, pancakes and so on drizzled with maple syrup) except we use honey. This was invented by my ten year old son a while back and is absolutely delicious! Simply drizzle a little. or a lot, of honey over your fresh cooked bacon and eggs on toast. Eat while hot.

25.01.2022 So I have had quite a few inquiries regarding the treatment of Small hive beetle. I use "beetle blaster" traps filled with a 50/50% mix of cooking oil and vinegar. It works a treat and is cheaper than any other method I know. A bonus is that the traps can be rinsed out and re-used when they are full.

24.01.2022 In other news I am experimenting with other honey products to sell. Currently trialing honey roasted macadamias and beeswax-honey soap. What else would folks like to have available?

23.01.2022 All ready for the Malanda markets tomorrow! This month I have three varieties of honey- Pink Ash, Rose gum and a mixed eucalypt.

20.01.2022 Unfortunately true

18.01.2022 This will be on my must see list as soon as it comes out!

15.01.2022 I have always found bee stings to be very good for my health. Now we also find other benefits may be coming.

15.01.2022 Off to the Malanda Markets tomorrow. Hoping for a fine day. I have spent the morning bottling and labeling. This month I have two varieties of honey available. Pink Ash, a lovely honey (My favourite) which is a rain forest tree that has a very short three week flowering season, and Rose Gun which is a rather rare honey as the Rose gums only flower every seven to ten years on average. You will have noticed a dearth of new photos on this site. This is because I have still not replaced my broken camera. Nor do I have a mobile phone (yes, I am a Luddite). I hope to remedy one of these things soon. First I need to find a camera or phone that is both bee keeper and honey proof...

14.01.2022 I will also be at the next Malanda Markets (21st Dec I believe) selling both honey and wax. Honey varieties are local rain forest mixed blossom and Lemon gum.

14.01.2022 If I ever think I have it tough I take time out to think about these guys

14.01.2022 I am a bad person. I laughed way too hard...

11.01.2022 I am so going to do this next chance I get!

09.01.2022 This is a prime example of natural selection in action folks.

07.01.2022 Good news and bad news. I have finally been wrangled into owning a mobile phone. On the plus side I can now do more photos and recordings for all the bee lovers out there. In other news I am finally getting ready to begin filming the beginners bee keeping series #1. ... These will be aimed initially at the absolute beginners wanting to get into basic bee keeping. I will try to take the time to answer all of the questions I am frequently asked. See more

07.01.2022 This is a little off topic I know but the farming concept ties in well with my method of keeping bees.

07.01.2022 As a small farmer who sells honey directly, I can not emphasize this enough.

06.01.2022 Sorry Kiwis...buuuut...

06.01.2022 Finally had a good harvest since the winter rain destroyed the Bloodwood blossom. So I hit the Malanda markets yesterday and did really well! Very happy. Need to get a camera still so I can post some pics of the stall and stuff. Yes I know, I am a Luddite who doesn't have a mobile phone...

04.01.2022 Spent yesterday helping a good friend upgrade her hives to new paradise boxes. The old timber boxes were falling apart at the seams and needed to go. There was a really good nectar flow on from the big melaleucas' and the area smelled wonderful! Give the bees another week of good weather and there should be a fine harvest to be had.

04.01.2022 Actually I kinda like them.

02.01.2022 Ok, this is something I am going to have to try.
