10.01.2022 This is a picture of a melanoma removed at our clinic last week. The patient was unaware of it at the time. Melanomas are not always dark, ugly and obvious. One third of melanomas found at routine skin checks patients were unaware of. A lesion like this can only be diagnosed under a dermatoscope in the hands of an expert. Skin checks save lives.

Each year, the global population is diagnosed with 2 million to 3 million non-melanoma skin cancers and 132,000 melanoma skin cancers. An Australian study conducted in South Australia has found that media literacyin this case the ability to critically evaluate social media postscould reduce rates of tanning, which can cause skin cancer.
