23.01.2022 The Armchair Analyst managed only two of four value bet selections saluting last week. This takes the season tally to 51 wins from 77 value bet selections at a strike rate just shy of 67%. We are into the finals now and it is a whole new ball game.... I trust that those who have followed my Blog this season have enjoyed the commentary provided and the value bet winners that have been flowing.

23.01.2022 2020 NRL: NRL Finals Week Preview & Selections Panthers vs Roosters (Friday, October 02 7:50pm AEDT) The Panthers have been ultra-impressive all season in both attack and defence in leading the competition. They play with a high level of intensity in both areas and they have been able to maintain it for long periods which has elevated them above the pack this season. Many analysts feel their overall lack of finals experience will see them stumble under finals pressure. I am ...Continue reading

21.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 20 Preview & Selections (Part 2) Sharks vs Raiders (Saturday, September 26 5.30pm AEDT) The Sharks have shown that they are lucky to have taken the last Top 8 spot. Whilst they rank in the top three for tries scored they also rank in the bottom three for missed tackles. Their poor defence has seen them unable to defeat a Top 8 side all year. The loss of Shaun Johnson is a massive blow to them as he leads the competition in try assists and has easily been their...Continue reading

19.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 17 Preview & Selections (Part 2) Manly vs Tigers (Saturday, September 05 5.30pm AEDT) It seems an age since Manly scored a huge upset beating the Eels 22-18 at Lottoland. Their form has since tapered off with narrow losses to the Warriors and Knights followed by a belting by the Bunnies 56-12. Last week they travelled to the Sunshine Coast to meet the Storm and despite trying hard the clinical Storm took them apart in the second half winning 30-6. The Manly s...Continue reading

17.01.2022 The Armchair Analyst managed three wins from five value bet selections last week. This takes the season tally to 49 wins from 73 value bet selections at a strike rate of better than 67%. In a round with many players being rested I see some value again this weekend as we come to the last round of the 2020 regular season.... I trust that those who follow my Blog are enjoying the commentary provided and the value bet winners that have been flowing.

16.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 17 Preview & Selections (Part 1) Broncos vs Panthers (Thursday, September 03 7:50pm AEDT) The Broncos have now won 1 out of their last 14 games and are in real danger of winning the wooden spoon for the first time. Kotoni Staggs and Tom Dearden are two shining lights in the trainwreck that is the Bronco's season in 2020. They really stuck it to the Dragons a fortnight ago before just missing out 28-24. That however was simply a blip as the Roosters buried the...Continue reading

13.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 18 Preview & Selections (Part 1) Tigers vs Rabbitohs (Thursday, September 10 7:50pm AEDT) The Tigers were blown off the park 38-16 by the Roosters. With the return of Harry Grant the Tigers really turned up against the Panthers and made them work hard before they put the result to bed 30-6 in the second half. The Tigers then played poorly for the majority of the game against Manly before staging the biggest comeback all season. They were down 14 points with n...Continue reading

12.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 18 Preview & Selections (Part 2) Titans vs Broncos (Saturday, September 12 5.30pm AEDT) The Titans recorded a 30-18 loss to the Sharks followed by a really poor loss to the Raiders 36-16 at home. Last week they turned up with much better resolve and defence against the Dragons at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium proving too strong in a 14-10 win. With Jai Arrow back from injury they played the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium and recorded an 18-14. Whilst not a convincing wi...Continue reading

11.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 20 Preview & Selections (Part 1) Broncos vs Cowboys (Thursday, September 24 7:50pm AEDT) The Broncos have been really poor for four months now with very little for their supporters to cheer about. Seibold destroyed the team by ridding itself of experience and staying loyal to playmakers who simply were not up to the task. The Broncos Board has a lot to answer to for their season from hell. In the return of their local derby against the Cowboys Kotoni Staggs i...Continue reading

11.01.2022 2020 NRL: NRL Grand Final Preview & Selection Panthers vs Storm (Sunday, October 25 6:30pm AEDT) The Panthers finished minor premiers and are now into the 2020 grand final. In a hard fought 20-16 win over the Bunnies it was their defence that won them the game. They had clearly worked on this during the week off as their normally rock solid defence was missing against the Chooks the game before. Their win over the Bunnies was not their best performance by a long shot butcher...Continue reading

08.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 19 Preview & Selections (Part 1) Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs (Thursday, September 17 7:50pm AEDT) The Bunnies belted a really poor Manly side 56-10 and then caused a major upset steamrolling the Eels 38-0. Their acid test came against their bogey side the Storm at the Sunshine Coast a fortnight ago. They played well but the defence of the Storm and a litany of errors hurt them and they fell short 22-16. In an alarming capitulation after leading 20-0 against the Ti...Continue reading

08.01.2022 We are now at the pointy end of a very different but incredibly exciting 2020 NRL season. The two best teams all year meet in the grand final with the Panthers who finished on top of the table playing the Storm who finished second on the table. Both teams beat all of the other Top 8 sides during the season but the Storm were beaten 21-14 by the Panthers in round six in their only meeting. This grand final promises to be one of the best in many years with both teams in excellent form. Let us hope that it plays out that way to round out a terrific year of rugby league.

07.01.2022 The Armchair Analyst is in a state of shock after only two of five value bet selections saluting last week. After a large glass of red wine and a slap across the face he is ready to tackle round 19. This takes the season tally to 46 wins from 68 value bet selections at a strike rate just shy of 68%.... In a round with some large starts I see some value again this weekend as we come to the pointy end of the season. I trust that those who follow my Blog are enjoying the commentary provided and the value bet winners that keep flowing.

05.01.2022 2020 NRL Finals Week 3 Preview & Selections Storm vs Raiders (Friday, October 16 7:50pm AEDT) The Storm finished second on the ladder after yet another top season with Cameron Smith defying Father Time and being one of their best. The Storm were under pressure by the Eels in the first half of their game in finals week one but rallied in the second half to win 36-24 to earn the week off. A twelve minute period of speed, aggression and quick ball movement between Justin Olam, ...Continue reading

04.01.2022 2020 NRL: NRL Finals Week 2 Preview & Selections Roosters vs Raiders (Friday, October 09 7:50pm AEDT) The Roosters were denied a week off through some Nathan Cleary magic in their game against the Panthers. Cleary kicked a field goal to ice the game 29 28 and force them back to a 2019 grand final replay against the Raiders. The Roosters were brave but they did capitalise on some crucial Panthers errors and I don’t know how much improvement they have left in them. They have...Continue reading

04.01.2022 2020 NRL: NRL Finals Week 1 Preview & Selections Panthers vs Roosters (Friday, October 02 7:50pm AEDT) The Panthers have been ultra-impressive all season in both attack and defence in leading the competition. They play with a high level of intensity in both areas and they have been able to maintain it for long periods which has elevated them above the pack this season. 03.01.2022 We have seen an incredible finals week one bevy of high class rugby league games with one to go. The Armchair Analyst likes the late announced move of Kurt Mann from dummy half to five eight for the Knights. I see them with the +9.5 points start as a value bet selection.

02.01.2022 2020 NRL: Round 19 Preview & Selections (Part 2) Storm vs Tigers (Saturday, September 19 5.30pm AEDT) The Storm were easily beaten 14-0 by the Eels at Bankwest stadium with a number of their stars out. With these stars back they then overcame a rusty first half to belt their old foe Manly 30-6. They then followed that win up with a comfortable 22-16 victory over the Bunnies at ANZ Stadium. Last week with a couple of stars rested they had a 36-20 win over the Cowboys after bei...Continue reading

01.01.2022 The Armchair Analyst has recovered from his holiday lull and is back in the groove with 4 from 5 value bet selections saluting last week. This takes the season tally to 44 wins from 63 value bet selections at a strike rate just shy of 70%. I see plenty of value again this weekend as we come to the pointy end of the season.... I trust that those who follow my Blog are enjoying the commentary provided and the value bet winners that keep flowing.
