10.01.2022 Eclectic Island, artworks from the Museum’s collection spanning the last century. This is an oil painting by Nev Anning. It depicts the vat that is now at the museum. The vat was removed by the Anning family from Dunwich during the Second World War. They were worried that it would be used for scrap iron for the war effort so removed it to their Peachester property where they had a paint horse stud. The vat served as a horse trough until it was returned to Dunwich by Nev Anning before he passed away. The Anning family operated a butcher shop and picture show at Dunwich.
