15.01.2022 Check out this Four Corners program on fast fashion. "With the rise of online shopping, the demand for cheap and readily available clothing has created a new fashion boom. Known as "fast fashion" this affordable but disposable approach to clothing has created billion-dollar empires, but there is a cost. This investigation reveals the unglamorous and, in some cases, illegal practices of the clothing industry. From the sweatshops of Britain to the textile factories of India, this program exposes the high cost of fast fashion, and who really pays the price. With millions of tonnes of textiles ending up in landfill, some in the fashion industry are challenging customers to change their buying habits."

02.01.2022 A bit of positive reinforcement does it every time! After seeing their recycling rates plummet during the lockdown, Christchurch city council decided to introduce a public reward and shaming system to motivate people to recycle more carefully. The scheme involves placing a large gold star on the kerbside wheelie bins of successful recyclers, and removes the bins of those who repeatedly fail to recycle properly. The percentage of recycling trucks able to head to the sorters is now nearing 80% (from 48% in June). #waste #recycling http://ow.ly/8TOz50CmrCM
