17.01.2022 FACEBOOK MEMBER OF THE WEEK- Memphis Springs Alpacas, Orange NSW In 2013 John and Angela Barlow purchased a small acreage in beautiful Orange NSW. We were breeding rare breeds of chickens and purchased two wethers to guard the chooks. We soon found out that our alpacas preferred chasing chooks to guarding them! Nevertheless, we fell in love with alpacas and so started ‘Memphis Springs’. ... The purchase of maiden females was a learning curve for us but an enjoyable one just the same. Thanks to our fellow AAA members who have provided guidance, assistance and education along the way. We now have six of our own progeny, three males and three females making up our small herd of twelve Huacaya, all of different colours and personalities. What we love about alpacas: -how inquisitive they are -their friendliness and how they love to greet people who come to the property -how quiet they are -their big beautiful eyes and long eyelashes -their gorgeous soft luscious fibre in so many beautiful colours. We enjoy attending country shows and catching up with likeminded breeders. Alpacas really are the perfect animal! Let’s hope the shows return soon!

17.01.2022 Another fantastic video by Peter Kennedy-Gane on Huacaya fleece judging.

09.01.2022 Did you know that AAA members have access to member only information like the Alpaca Advice sheets that have recently been revised? Alpacas have relatively sma...ll livers compared to many other animals and can therefore be more prone to poisoning and liver damage if exposed to toxic plants over time. - learn more in the "Poisonous Plants" Advice Sheet in the Members Portal of the AAA website #AAAMembers #LearnOnWednesday #AustralianAlpaca See more

08.01.2022 NSW Member of The Week Val & John Qozqo Alpacas- Southen Tablelands Qozqo Alpacas have been breeding champion alpacas for the last 16 years and now have over 250 quality coloured suri and huacaya including champion stud males, breeding females, and 50 stunning cria. ... Our first alpacas were bought as guard animals to keep the foxes at bay and save our kid goats but we very quickly found that these beautiful, intelligent, inquisitive animals are so easy to manage that we no longer run cattle sheep and goats. They have so few husbandry problem-minimal worm or lice problems, do not go over or under fences and are so easy to herd.

08.01.2022 Don’t forget the Hawkesbury show silent stud auction finishes at 12pm today. All bids must be made on the correlating post. Best of luck bidders!!

04.01.2022 ***NSW Member of the week*** MARCHMONT PARK ALPACAS- Yass NSW Barry & Ann Ranyard ... Marchmont Park Alpacas was established in 2005 on our 40 acre property just outside Yass NSW. Initially, we thought we would spend around 10 years dabbling in alpacas but, 15 years later, we are still here with a current herd of 75 huacayas both white and coloured. We have been breeding and showing our animals and several years ago we were joined by our daughter Suzanne in an alpaca product business Irresistibly Alpaca, selling and promoting alpaca products both online and at markets. We have experienced some challenges along the way, including two years of severe drought, but it has been a magical journey and we would not have missed it.
