17.01.2022 The committee of NSWMTB has started to debate what we are doing at all and what our aims are for mountain bike riding in NSW. The National body has chosen to ignore NSW and posted below. Due to the Natinal Body not with CA it is all about funding so they are only concerned about XC. We will have to have a long discussion. State Championship Dates Released Posted by mtba, April 11, 2018... Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) are pleased to confirm the dates and venues for the 2018 Cross Country State Championships which this year incorporates four states. After holding last year’s event in Mackay, this year’s Queensland Cross-Country Championship will be held at Castle Hill, Ipswich on 3-4 November hosted by the Ipswich Cycling Club. It’s the first time the club has hosted a cross-country state championship. This venue is famous for its raw, non-groomed trails which consist of varied terrain including hard pack, technical rocky trails with steep but rideable climbs and descents, said club president Geoffrey Stieler. That same weekend the South Australian State Championship will be held at Fox Creek, with the Adelaide Mountain Bike Club taking on the hosting duties. Fox Creek is one of SA’s premiere trail networks, offering a range of trails, including the XC forest which features skinny, tight and naturally flowing trails. State Championships always attracts some fast locals which makes for great racing, said the club’s social media co-ordinator Griff Knight. Victorians will have their opportunity to vie for a state championships on the 18th November at You Yangs Mountain Bike Park. It’s been eight years since the Geelong Mountain Bike Club have hosted a cross-country championships. The 6km Course includes two technical climbs (Boulder & Lactic Acid) and with 2 fun flowing rocky descents (Trilogy & Trav’s) to keep you smiling all the way to the event village. Victorian State Championship Jerseys are not handed out to just anyone they are earned. Tasmania will be the last state to host a championships on the 25th of November at Kelcy Tier a venue which offers a variety of trail features such as hand cut and raked in single track from late 90’s through to some recently machine built trails. Riders will be challenged with the terrain that requires 100% attention; fatigue and Kt don’t mix well, it will be a true challenge, said Justin Warren from the Mersey Valley Davenport Cycling Club. Clubs in Western Australia, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory are also encouraged to apply to host a State Championship event.

16.01.2022 Great to see A new bike riding participation program launched by AusCycling (the National Sporting Organisation representing all disciplines of cycling in Australia) will expand into Gippsland today, with the aim of getting more people on bikes and bringing cycling tourism to the region. Ride Nation is the participation brand and strategy of AusCycling, with its mission to encourage more people to enjoy riding their bikes regardless of skill level, age, discipline, location ...or preference. The Gippsland initiative will involve a range of opportunities for the region including up skilling coaches to conduct bike education lessons in schools, as well as providing a dedicated website for cycling clubs, events, coaches and bike shops to advertise any participation services or opportunities. "Ride Nation is the flagship participation brand of AusCycling. With the launch of Ride Nation Gippsland, we look forward to working collaboratively with the community to support bike riding of all types throughout the region," AusCycling’s acting joint CEO Steve Drake said. A unique ‘bike library’ program is also being piloted in the region. The library will provide school children who would otherwise not have access to a bike, the opportunity to participate in their school’s bike education lessons. Partnering with Men’s Shed Trafalgar, the first of the donated bikes were handed over to the Trafalgar Primary School today. Ride Nation Gippsland is supported by Latrobe Valley Authority, the Baw Baw Shire Council and Bendigo Community Bank in Trafalgar. Baw Baw Shire Council Mayor, Danny Goss, was thrilled that the region formed a large part of the flagship AusCycling program. Baw Baw Shire is the first region in Australia to introduce this exciting program in partnership with AusCycling - the new national sporting organisation representing all cycling disciplines. Our goal is for Baw Baw Shire to be a premier cycling destination, and together with our commitment to improving our cycling infrastructure, this program will help to achieve that. Ride Nation brings together all parts of the cycling community and will offer long term benefits to the Gippsland region. Christine Holland, the Chair of the Trafalgar and District Community Bank said the Ride Nation program aligned with the bank’s values. "Community Bank Trafalgar and District are delighted to have the opportunity to support Ride Nation as a community project that meets our values in caring for community well-being through outdoor pursuits, providing an opportunity for our young people and assisting the hard-hit hospitality industry with increased visitation as use is made of local tracks, trails and roads. It is our aim to support community and business recover from a very challenging year. This commitment is made possible by our customers - we thank them." 13.01.2022 Back before the recent turmoil the decision was to close down NSWMTB. The racing in NSW was to be taken over by MTBA and our funds were to be distributed to the NSW clubs. A lot of things have changed since then. Rocky Trails is now running the profitable events, dual slalom and 4X have died, and downhill is almost the same unless you have a chairlift. MTBA is gone and AusCycling is finding its feet. Initially 3 people ran NSWMTB, I expanded it to try to get a quorum for meetings. I would like to give some insite into possibly the last days of NSWMTB by posting up the minutes.
11.01.2022 Minutes NSW MTB meeting February 3, 2021 (210203-1) Steven Humphreys is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Zoom Half hour meeting 17:30 hours to 18:00 hours Apologies on line to president. Attended. Steven Humphreys, Matt Padula, Simon Ebbeling,... Business arising from previous meeting; Nil Correspondence: Tathra MTB Club and Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders Mountain Bike Club. - grant application. Business Establish Zoom account so future meetings can take place at greater than 30 minutes Decision to use WSMTB Zoom account for meetings in the future. Matt Padula. Sam to arrange. Obtain copy of email on the 18th December 2020 from AusCycling Club and Member Service Team. Applications closed on 30/01/2021 and so far NSWMTB has not been able to obtain a copy of the e-mail. Is it the one Ray sent? Therefore I propose to seek MTBA co-operation in this. A draft of the email will circulated soon. Note I am still looking for selection criteria. One this I have added is that proposals from CTMBC, HVMTBC, CCMTBS, WSMTB be considered equally with all other proposals. I have chosen 2 people form MTBA. This is introduce fairness and oversight. The 3 people from NSW can then out vote them. So: - The grant selection committee consist of 5 people: 3 from NSW MTBA, 2 from MTBA - The grants must be applied for by a date (to be fixed). The recipients should be affiliated with MTBA. They must be Incorporated Association (present the Dept of Fair Trading receipt) and present their 2018-19 Financial Accounts. Clubs must have their own race series, and held on the track they help maintain. - The clubs CTMBC, HVMTBC, CCMTBC, and WSMTBC must be consider on the strength of their proposal. - The grants should be maximum $5,000. All costings should be provided. - Co-contributions would count. Ie if the club puts a $, the grant system would put in a $ - The grants cannot be used for club operational purposes. ie the running of a race series, prize money, etc - Unused funds must be given back to NSW MTBA if not used with 12 months. - ?? Regards, Establish contact with one cycling so when considering these grants we have the required quorum. One cycling is supposed to be part of the process. Matt Padula will contact AusCycling for members. Consideration of NSW mountain biking events in 2021, A 2021 NSW downhill series. A 2021 4X championships. A 2021 dual slalom championships. A 2021 pump track series. Steven Humphreys to arrange. Possible grant application 210125. Remote marshal. A discussion was occurring when Zoom terminated the meeting. Meeting closed after 40 minutes. 09.01.2022 The road is no place for average 12 year olds in Sydney, help let them use the footpaths where there are no shared pathways
07.01.2022 A bit of a report, 2016-17, Downhill kept the champs with Rocky Trails Entertainment, The DH series has fallen back to the Clubs run as per the old days due to costs and numbers (100 riders is a good day) Dual Slalom and 4X have insufficient numbers to run events but we plan to revive old school flat track dual slalom. XC at club level is going well but a series and the champs are loosing money for everyone so MTBA has stepped in and holding the champs in New England. Mountain cross was going well until UCI made new rules and I have no idea what it is or called now. Endurance has cooled down and the main events are now with promoters and sponsors. At this stage in 2018 we hope to have the downhill series and champs , Dual Slalom and XC champs and the NSW hill climb.
06.01.2022 But a little disappointed that the only event for mountain bikes at the Santos Event is Olympic XC, with Program details for Paracycling, Track, Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Bike, and BMX are set to be rolled out over the coming weeks. seeing this is Jan 6 and the Santos Tour Down Under has announced a new and re imagined event for 2021 in South Australia with the Santos Festival of Cycling taking place from Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 January.
