21.01.2022 It has been a long time since this page has been updated but Lake George Zone (LGZ) needed to pause and re-group in forming a steady schedule of knowledge transfer and mentoring support for our next contingent of CL candidates. The Group will involve those who have recently moved from AF to CLW; and those progressing through their CLS learning and development requirements. Leadership will be a big focus this year in particular; and the zone will be calling on subject matte...r expertise to ensure all aspects of leadership on and off the fireground is covered. The first session for 2018 will kick off in April and I look forward to releasing some of the topics we will cover soon. Great to be back on the interweb waves sharing what we learn along the way with you all. Wendy Swincer LGZ Crew Leader Mentor Group NSW Rural Fire Service

19.01.2022 How about this for a clever idea for showing your community how fire travels across a landscape, especially uphill and the value of an Asset Protection Zone around their home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAXYgXSVLZQ

12.01.2022 Some interesting thinking going on about the place of hazard reduction burning in the tool set of community fire preparedness.

12.01.2022 Here's a whole bunch of very calm & professional radio traffic from the Holsworthy fire last week. Worth listening to and thinking about how we work on the radios during the chaos of a big fire's early stages.

05.01.2022 This is a fascinating time lapse video of a wildfire in Canada showing the development and movement of the smoke column. It is quite clear to see the point where it really gets going and takes off. What else do others notice?

02.01.2022 Fascinating footage of just how quickly spot fires can start. Ararat Fire Brigade captured the moment a number of spot fires started by leaves and twigs picked up by gusts of wind. So, how would you handle this fire? Which part of the fire would you chase with the resources you have? (Thanks Chris Powell for finding this one)
