18.01.2022 UPPER HUNTER SHIRE COUNCIL TUESDAY 1/12/2020 PERMITS SUSPENDED

15.01.2022 Today members of Wingen Rural Fire Service Brigade, along with many others of the Upper Hunter shire had the honour of receiving the NSW Premiers Bushfire Emerg...ency Citation. The Citation is thankyou from the NSW Premier for our contributions during the 2019/2020 Bushfires. We do not do what we do for recognition or thanks, we do it because we want to protect and support our communities. Whilst there were 65000 of these given out it is important that we also recognise and thank many others that without their support our jobs would be far more difficult. We thank the families of the firefighters who accept that when the pager goes off, anytime day/night, in the middle of a party or sporting event, their loved one is headed off into an unknown situation and worry about them until they are home exhausted, dirty, emotional but most of all safe. We thank the communities who rally behind our firefighters and prepare meals and snack packs for us to take out. We thank the employers that are supportive and allow us to take time off to attend fires or other incidents. So today, Wingen brigade say THANKYOU to all those that support NSW emergency service workers, both volunteer and paid, well done to us all as a community. 04.01.2022 Yesterday 16/10/20 at 13:02 , Kingdon Ponds 1 and crew attended a fire near scone racecourse, upon arrival it was found that horse manure and sawdust had self c...ombusted causing a small grass fire in the adjacent paddock, crews continue to patrol and cool down the area, current weather conditions are favouring self combustion and we advise people to check any piles of vegetation, manure and hay stacks. 03.01.2022 11.47hrs on 17th October. Gunnedah and Curlewis RFS responded to a crop fire on Preston Rd. The fire had the potential to spread quickly to more crop and nearby... scrubby country. However quick thinking land owners plowed around the fire allowing it to extinguish itself. It's a good reminder to farmers to check their harvesting equipment and fire fighting equipment as the harvesting season approaches. See more
