23.01.2022 The 20/21 Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) has officially ended. While Fire Permits are generally not required outside the BFDP it varies from area to area, such as in Fire and Rescue NSW jurisdiction, or where the activity may endanger a building. Your local Fire Control Centre can assist with requirements specific to your area: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/about-us/fcc If you’re planning to burn on your property and have all the necessary approvals in place, don’t forget to notify your neighbours and local fire agency at least 24hrs ahead. 18.01.2022 Update: Level 1 restrictions to fire permits from Tuesday 10.11.2020 until further notice. Fire Danger increasing this Saturday. No large piles or bush burning. Written fire permits continue to be available from brigades, but will limit all burn activities to 24hrs.

HEAVY RAIN, likely leading to FLASH FLOODING, presents a SERIOUS RISK to the Nort...hern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Hunter, and Central Tablelands districts tonight and Monday. In some areas, heavy rain and flooding may be LIFE-THREATENING. Roads are likely to be cut off by water, and there will is an increased risk of landslips during this period. 13.01.2022 If you use the Fires Near Me app you would have noticed the icons have changed colour, This has been done as part of a new Australian Warning System, the national system will give you consistent information no matter what state you are in. While the icons may look different, what they mean hasn't changed: Advice is now yellow Watch and Act is orange... Emergency warning is red. Advice level you should check your bush fire survival plan and be ready to activate it. Listen and check for updates and monitor the situation. Watch and Act means just that if a fire goes to to watch and act, activate your fire plan now. Follow your plan, remembering leaving early is your best chance of survival. Emergency Warning means it is too late to leave, shelter in your house until the fire passes and then go outside and put out any spot fires on or around your home. Prepare. Act. Survive.
