13.01.2022 Did you see anything? Members were disappointed to find that over the weekend someone has entered our old unit compound and training ground and taken it upon themselves to push one of our kindly donated training vehicles over the embankment. Thankfully our good friends at Croakers Towing Batemans Bay saved the day and recovered the vehicle back up the embankment. ... If you saw anything over the weekend or have any information feel free to message our page #nothappyjan #dontpushmecozimclosetotheedge

13.01.2022 Why did the tree cross the road? To try and stop the chainsaw training A group of students and trainers on the way to a combined chainsaw training and assessment day in Braidwood were faced with a tree down across the road. This turned into a great learning experience and some "on-the-job" training for the students.... Thanks to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council for the traffic control and a massive thanks to NSW SES - Braidwood Unit and Matt Talbott for their hospitality and to Wayne Sainsbur, Mel Potter and Harry Cassilles for giving up their weekend to train, assess and endorse members and for Harry who offered up his property to train on. 11.01.2022 Essential Road Crash Rescue Training with SES Batemans Bay and the Rural Fire Service, Surf Beach Unit was conducted on Tuesday night the 11th of November . This is a fantastic community partnership with amazing skills from both teams clearly on display. Road Crash Rescue is a specialised and extensive course which requires our teams to undergo extensive training to meet the demanding skills required to undertake such rescues. The training includes handling of specialist e...quipment, scene assessment, safety vehicle management, vehicle stabilisation, casualty assessment and then sequence the removal of major vehicle sections (e.g doors, roof). This gives both teams an opportunity to train and work collaboratively in this training exercise. The training followed Covid 19 protocols. Thank you to RFS Surf Beach for their efforts and for training with us. See more
