24.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Large hailstones, Damaging winds and Heavy Rain For people in Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Northern Tablelands and parts of Hunter, Central Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts.... Issued at 7:36 pm Wednesday, 28 October 2020. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Armidale and Tamworth. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina and Lower Western districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

16.01.2022 POSSIBLE HEAVY RAIN AND STORMS FOR COASTAL NSW. The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is encouraging residents to use the weekend to prepare for possible thunde...rstorms and periods of heavy rain that are predicted to develop early over Sunday and into early next week. At this stage there is potential for a low pressure system to form somewhere between the NSW Mid North Coast and South Coast that may result in periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and hazardous surf conditions. NSW SES Northern Zone Deputy Commander Tony Day said "Currently there is some uncertainty about the location of the system however it is likely to bring with it the possibility of riverine and localised flash flooding as we move into next week." NSW SES is encouraging residents to clean roofs gutters and downpipes, trim trees branches away from property and secure down outdoor items and furniture as a way of preparing their property for severe weather. Mr. Day continued, "The current COVID-19 environment presents additional considerations for emergency services in responding to severe weather events. So the most practical way the community can help should the heavy rain eventuate is to avoid all non essential travel and to never drive, ride or walk through floodwaters." The SES recommends people monitor the NSW Bureau of Meteorology for any severe weather warnings for heavy rain or riverine flood warnings. For emergency storm and flood assistance call NSW SES on 132 500. ABC Mid North Coast PRIME7 News North Coast Mid North Coast NSW Emergency Situations Triple M Mid North Coast

09.01.2022 Over the last week or so due to persistent steady rain, showers and storms, local catchment areas including river systems, creeks and drains along the East Coast and in particular the Mid North Coast area are very full. With thunderstorms and more rainfall predicted for this area again over the coming days will mean that rivers, creeks and causeways will see rapid water rises with little notice. Please be aware of local conditions and stay up to date with the BoM issued war...nings. If you are in an area that is usually affected by isolation due to rivers and creeks rising now may be a good time to resupply if it is safe to do so. With expected storms and possible heavy local rainfall which may impact you again over the next week. If you require assistance from the SES call 132500. If your situation is life threatening call 000. Don’t drive, walk, ride, paddle or play in flood water.

08.01.2022 REMINDER With the potential for our volunteers to be out over the weekend now is a timely reminder of how to react around emergency vehicles. If an emergency vehicle is behind you with their lights and sirens, indicate and pull to the left. Your help keeps us safe and allows us to respond to emergencies safely.

07.01.2022 If you require Sandbags, please come down to our Headquarters in Norman St, if safe to do so. If you need help with floods and storms please call 132500 or 000 if life threatening.
