23.01.2022 Happy Monday Lake Mac! More than 70 calls for assistance were received yesterday. Storm and flood rescue teams have been responding to these calls and will continue to do so today. A collective 175hrs spent completing calls for help. Another 2 storm crews are continuing battling the elements. 150 total requests were received between Lake Macquarie, Cooranbong and Swansea units. ... 21.01.2022 Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES, for people in parts of Maitland/Cessnock, Greater Newcastle, Gosford/Wyong, Sydney..., Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong areas. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRING, MAY PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Camden, Campbelltown, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Budgewoi, Belmont, Charlestown and Swansea by 3:25 pm and Sutherland, Bundeena, Engadine and Holsworthy by 3:55 pm. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

Issued at 4:2...7 pm Thursday, 29 October 2020. Weather Situation: The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:20 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Cessnock and the Stroud district. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast to southeast. They are forecast to affect Maitland, Branxton and Kurri Kurri by 4:50 pm and Newcastle City, Raymond Terrace and Medowie by 5:20 pm. Large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.

Severe weather is no longer occurring in NSW and the ACT. The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary. Williamtown recorded 48.4 mm in 1 hour to 8 am. Wallis Lakes recorded 124.5 mm in 1 hour to 2 pm and 248 mm between 1 and 4pm. No further warnings will be issued for this event.

10.01.2022 Severe Weather has impacted lower parts of the #Hunter over the past 24 hrs. Heavy rainfall has led to localised flash flooding and some property damage in the Lake Macquarie area. If you need to travel tonight, take care on the roads as local roads may be impacted by flash flooding with little warning. Avoid all unnecessary travel. ... Lake Macquarie Unit volunteers have received over 50 calls for assistance. 3 Storm Damage crews and a Flood Rescue crew are currently activated responding to these requests. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRING WITH POSSIBLE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Orange, Bathurst, Katoomba, Dubbo and Parkes. WINDS AND SURF ALONG THE COASTAL DISTRICTS... A trough along the New South Wales coast, together with multiple low centres within the trough, are bringing increased winds and surf along the southern and central parts of the coast. The areas of winds and surf should shift to the northern coast on Monday as the system heads north. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are currently occurring about the Illawarra and Sydney coast,and forecast to extend to the Hunter coast this morning, before extending to the Mid North Coast in the afternoon. DAMAGING SURF, with waves exceeding 5 metres in the surf zone, may lead to significant beach erosion along coastal parts of the Illawarra, Sydney and Hunter coast this morning, and forecast to extend further north to Smoky Cape this afternoon. This system is forecast to bring gusty winds to parts of the New South Wales coast on Tuesday, and powerful seas to the coast on Tuesday and Wednesday. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible over the coastal fringe of the Illawarra, Sydney Metropolitan, Hunter and Mid North Coast districts on Tuesday. Winds are expected to gradually ease during Wednesday. VERY HEAVY SURF which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible from Tuesday afternoon.
