25.01.2022 - Guest Speaker Details - - Introducing - - Madlen Kratz - - Honey Bee Industry Development Officer NSW DPI Madlen's topic will be "Honey Bee Nutrition"

24.01.2022 POLLENTY OF FOOD FOR THESE BEES HAPPY FRIDAY SOUTH EAST... Check out this slo-mo of honey bees dropping in for a feed on pollen substitute ... Apple Tree Creek bee keeper Darren Enslin’s bees have had a rough year with the drought, so he’s supplementing their usual diet to help rebuild their hive numbers. It makes them pretty docile for European bees, so long as you don’t get in the way of the food or their hives!

23.01.2022 AIR BEE-N-BEE FOR APIARISTS A $530,000 online portal will help commercial beekeepers overcome the challenges of accessing land caused by bushfire and drou...ght, by giving them a one-stop-shop for public site access. The new BPASS Portal would also allow apiarists to apply and pay for their permits and licenses online for the first time. They already produce the sweetest honey, and now the NSW Government has given our beekeepers another tool to help them on the domestic and world stage. BPASS simplifies the permit application process for apiarists, who can now find, apply and pay for public land apiary sites, across multiple Government agencies, in an online one-stop-shop. The BPASS portal features searchable online maps displaying available site locations, prefilled information from previous applications, online approval of applications and permit documents produced automatically after payment. We’ve seen online holiday rentals boom in recent years, and now we’ve got the same things for our world class beekeepers the Air-Bee-n-Bee of the apiary industry.

22.01.2022 The new BPASS portal gives apiarists a simple way to access public land, and to apply and pay for permits and licenses online. 22.01.2022 From Agrifutures - BUSHFIRE RECOVERY PLAN AND THE ASSOCIATED 6 POINT PLAN SUMMARY DOCUMENT The 2019-20 bushfire crisis has severely compromised the viability of eastern state commercial beekeeping businesses and, in turn, their ability to provide pollination services to Australian broadacre crops and horticulture. This report details a recovery plan developed by beekeepers that requires Australian and state government funding and cooperation to implement.... Bushfire Recovery Plan: Understanding what needs to be done to ensure the honey bee and pollination industry recovers from the 2019-20 bushfire crisis. https://static1.squarespace.com//Bushfire+Recovery+Plan+Un Australia’s 2019-20 bushfires destroyed an estimated 15.6 million hectares of native forests. Critical nectar and pollen sources for honey bee colonies have been lost. Our ability to meet the pollination needs of the Australian agriculture industry is now severely compromised as with the ability to meet demand for domestic and export honey. A 6-point plan has been developed through industry wide consultation to recover the beekeeping industry over the next five years. 07.01.2022 If you are a beekeeper who has bees within a few kilometres of Sutton village you need to monitor your hives very closely. Walk past your hives daily for the ne...xt two weeks. You are watching to see if you are experiencing large numbers of bees dying. If you see piles of dead bees outside your hive entrance there is a fair chance your bees have been foraging on poisoned flowers. @yassvalleycouncil were spraying a broadleaf herbicide on the capeweed in full bloom in Sutton on 29/9/20. Beekeepers experienced an awful year last year with the drought, bushfires and smoke. We are shaping up for a much better season BUT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't spray chemicals on weeds with flowers on them! . . . . #8framehoney #savethebees #sutton #suttonvillage #yassvalleycouncil #dontpoisonflowers #poorform #supportbeekeepers #bees
