24.01.2022 Diving Australia National Squad Member and 2016 Rio Olympic Team athlete Kevin Chavez has today announced this retirement from competitive diving. Since beginni...ng diving at age 11 in his native Mexico, Kevin has been an outstanding athlete and role model for the global diving community. The 28-year-old notched an impressive list of accomplishments, including a standout performance at two FINA World Championships and an Olympic Games for Australia. Reflecting on Kevin’s career, Diving Australia General Manager Performance and Pathways, Steve Foley, highlighted his apparent effortlessness in completing challenging skills and his fierce devotion to excellence. Kevin is well known for his amazing strength and power on the springboard and his list of dives were often the hardest possible, Foley said. One of Kevin’s great attributes was his fantastic contribution to the team and he was highly respected and liked. A positive and excellent role model for our next generation of divers, Kevin has a gentle, quiet make-up but hidden inside is his determination, courage and ambition to be the best he can be. After a successful stint in Mexico, including a medal winning performance at the FINA World Championships in 2013, injuries raised questions of a premature retirement. However, with the help of national coach and NSWIS Head Coach Chava Sobrino, Kevin emigrated to Australia in 2015. Kevin is one of the most talented athletes I have ever coached, with incredible speed, very strong, yet elegant and beautiful. He was able to do amazing and difficult dives with incredible ease, Sobrino said. He was always a team player and created great relationships within the team; he had the respect of everyone. Although we will be sad to see Kevin step off the springboard, he will continue to contribute to the sport through his coaching roles at Perfect 10 Diving (Sydney) and mentoring the next generation of diving talent at NSWIS. From all of us at Diving Australia, we wish Kevin the very best in the next chapter of his life and thank him for his ongoing commitment to our sport, his unwavering relentlessness, and his dedication as a supportive team member.
17.01.2022 Diving NSW send our love and sincere condolences to the Donnet family after the passing of Life Member of Diving Victoria and Diving Australia, Barbara Donnet at the age of 91 on Thursday 5th November. Barbara was a remarkable friend, mother, diver, coach and legend in the sport. We are deeply sorry for your loss!

07.01.2022 A high congratulations is in order for Laura Hingston who today was announced as a winner of the 2XU Coach Award as part of the 2020 Victorian Institute of Spor...t Awards. The award comes on the back of an outstanding year for Laura both in and out of the pool where she served as an AIS Lifeline Community Custodian, was featured in an Elite Athlete Education Network panel, and engaged with the Diving Victoria community through virtual training sessions. Well deserved and congratulations Laura!
