21.01.2022 Traffic report Good afternoon, The NSW Government has announced that once-in-a-generation maintenance work will take place on the railway tracks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge in January 2021 to ensure the bridge remains safe for trains to travel into the future.... Maintenance work will take place on the bridge for 10 days from 6am, Friday 1 January until 2am, Monday 11 January 2021. Trains on the T1 North Shore & Western Line will continue to travel to and from North Sydney as well as to and from Wynyard Station, but will not cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Milsons Point Station will be closed. There will be extra buses to replace train services between North Sydney and Wynyard. On weekdays, buses will make more than 250 trips across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the peak hours between 8am 9am and between 5pm 6pm. Buses will travel between North Sydney and a number of destinations in the CBD: Wynyard, Circular Quay and Town Hall. There will also be a bus service from North Sydney to Wynyard that travels via Milsons Point. Transport for NSW is working with employers to encourage flexible working arrangements during the temporary closure. Customers who wish to travel across the Sydney Harbour Bridge should consider alternative modes of public transport where possible, for example, bus and ferry, or active transport, including cycling and walking. Importantly, customers heading to the airport are reminded to plan ahead and allow plenty of extra travel time. As a result of the continuing need for physical distancing measures, Transport for NSW has reminded customers to avoid non-essential travel. If you have to travel, plan ahead and allow extra travel time, and check transport capacity before boarding a service. There will also be reduced services on other train lines in the Sydney Trains network (except the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line) which will be running a weekend timetable. Trip planning information will be available at transportnsw.info two weeks before the start of the maintenance work. Heavy traffic is expected on roads around North Sydney, Milsons Point and the CBD motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time, travel outside peak periods and plan their journey. There will also be some temporary changes to parking in the CBD and North Sydney to accommodate additional buses. Motorists should always check signage before parking. For more information about public transport while maintenance is being carried out on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, go to transportnsw.info. Regards, Sandra. 20.01.2022 Here is the 3 step plan back to normal life.

20.01.2022 Airport Update: As I mentioned earlier last month, we are being moved closer to the GM cafe and the toilets and amenities, this is great for us for when the work picks up again. Dear Stakeholder, The NSW Government Sydney Gateway Project is now in the process of commencing. The Sydney Gateway Project will greatly improve travel to Sydney Airport and Port Botany. It will deliver major new toll-free connections from the Sydney motorway network to the International and Domestic... terminals, providing a better customer and driver experience. To facilitate the changes required for this project, the current limousine holding area at the Domestic Terminal will no longer be available for use. Sydney Airport is working to find an alternate location for our Domestic Limousine Holding Area and we have identified the area highlighted on the map below as a potential new site. We are currently seeking feedback from our key stakeholders and would ask you to provide any feedback you may have on these changes by 20 July 2020.

19.01.2022 A word of advice. Re fake HC plates. Hello drivers and operators, I just received an email from the driver who works for a company who has given him a car with a fake HC plate , you know the ones with two letters HC then 2 numbers. ... The driver who is not a member of the Association has asked me for help as he has received four infringement notices for using the bus lane. I had to inform him sadly that we could not assist him because he actually broke the law whether he was a member or not we cant do anything for him because it is illegal to drive in the bus lane with fake Hire car plates. I am only posting this because I know times are tough and I know that there are people out there with the same plates as this driver who are trying to make a living so please do not use bus lanes as you will be fined like this driver was.

14.01.2022 Here is the media coverage from the press conference yesterday. I was nice to hear the media and the minister refer to us as Hire Cars as opposed to ride sharing. As most of you remember in 2016 we were placed in the ridesharing bucket but with all the hard work that the Hirecar Association did we have been able to demonstrate that we are an entity of our own and we should not be placed in the ridesharing bucket and deserve our well earned identity.

08.01.2022 Hire Car Holding area is being moved temporarily. Hello all membes and drivers, from the 1st of July the holding area will be closed due to construction. We are being moved with the ride share drivers next to KFC, until such time as a permanent location has been found for us.... In our discussions with SACL, they offered us part of the taxi rank, where we used to be back in 2005 to about 2008, this is much better fo us as its right next to the shop and the toilets and there will be some small amounts of shade. In the mean time you need to park with the ride share drivers , but this will only be for a couple of months, and it wont make that much of a difference since our work wont really start up again for a few weeks... We will keep you updated as soon as we are made aware of any changes to this arrangement. Thank you. The HCA executive team.
