25.01.2022 As 2020 comes to an end, we wanted to take a look back at some of the highlights we had during a difficult year. In February, we held our largest ever Regional Challenge in Bathurst. Over 1000 players from every corner of NSW came together for a terrific long weekend packed full of hockey. The carnival would be the last major event on the Hockey NSW calendar for the year, and we were thankful it was able to be run normally before major restrictions were imposed. ... Hosted by talented NSW Pride players Morgan Blamey and Sam Gray, the night recognised the best and brightest of our State. It also acknowledged and rewarded the hardworking grassroots volunteers of our sport. ... Our Athlete Acceleration Program is the pre-elite program for 16-18 year olds and is the pool from which we select our Under 18 NSW State Teams. 17.01.2022 This past week, our Hockey NSW coaches and ambassador Kate Hanna hit the road to deliver multiple clinics on the Far South Coast thanks to the Macquarie Group Sports Foundation! With help from local hockey legends Cheryl and Paul, more than 450 students from Moruya Public School, Broulee Public School, Pambula Public School and Towamba Public School gave hockey a go for the first time! Each school received 100 free hockey sticks and every child went home with a hat and hockey ball. After a tough year of bushfires and no tourism due to COVID, we were happy to visit developing hockey region and have a couple of days of fun on the road

15.01.2022 NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro was out at Orange Hockey Fields today to announce over $250,000 in funding for the venue to improve disability access, refurbish the carpark and improve lighting around the facility. This is a fantastic announcement which will improve the safety, accessibility and and functionality of the fields for Orange Hockey Incorporate.

Nayonika is an international student from Oman, who has been actively involved in this space as an ISLA Ambassador from 2018-2020, MHAHS International Student Advisor and a 2019 StudyNSW International Student Awards Finalist. She deeply values the impact of building sustainable community relations to create long term connections and increasing civic participatio...n. Her commitment to improving the lives of those around her extends further as the current UN Youth NSW Youth Representative Liasion. Where she works with a number of organisations and regions across NSW to implement effective youth consultation to engage young Australians in politics and advocacy. Nayonika deeply values the role sport plays in bringing communities together and supporting them in tough times. Having something to look up to and bringing people together is fantastic and as a Multicultural Hockey NSW Ambassador, Nayonika is excited to see young people get involved and form stronger community ties. This meant we had to be creative in how we kept our hockey skills fresh and that’s how #HockeyAtHome was born! 01.01.2022 Hockey NSW has been saddened to hear of the life-threatening crisis one member of our community has been going through recently. Sutherland Hockey Club, Molong Hockey Club and former NSW player Scott "Scoot" Olsson suffered major complications and was in ICU for a number of weeks after a surgery to try and help his debilitating epilepsy that caused severe seizures. Unfortunately, Scott will require a long and expensive rehabilitation process. A fundraiser has been set-up by his friend and fellow Sutho player Matthew Hotchkis to assist with the effort. Any assistance the NSW hockey family could give to Scott and his family would be appreciated.
