24.01.2022 Tradespeople installing medical gas systems will now be required to hold a licence to carry out work in health and medical facilities in New South Wales. Legis...lation passed last week in NSW will ensure that only qualified and licenced gasfitters install and maintain medical gas infrastructure. The result of defective gas installation can be deadly. To ensure the safety of the community, it is critical that those working on gas systems are fully qualified and licenced. Medical Gas training is currently available at PICACs Victorian and Queensland campuses and will soon be offered in New South Wales.

PTEU is delighted to announce that a new Training Centre Site has been secured in NSW. Securing this site is the key to unlocking world-class training facilities for Members in NSW. With the move from our current Centre in Lidcombe to the new location to commence right away. Located at 1000 Old Windsor Rd in Glenwood, this Centre is bigger, brighter and better than our current site. This means: INCREASED LEARNING SPACE FOR SPRINKLER FITTERS SAFETY COURSES DELIVERED ON SITE ALARMS AND OTHER DRY FIRE PROTECTION TRAINING DELIVERED ON SITE A FIRE PROTECTION CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE AND INDUSTRY These are exciting times for Fire Industry Training in NSW and with the support of our industry partners the NFIA, PICAC and CEPUtec fire protection training is going to continue to go from strength to strength.

The final step in the process is to proclaim the Modern Slavery Act 2018 and it’s basically a flick of a pen. Usually it happens without discussion you’d rarely hear about the proclamation in the news. But the Premier is refusing. We’ve now joined dozens of organisations, from churches to judges, to get this law enacted.
