24.01.2022 The worst thing I hear beginners to powerlifting say is what are the records.. in any other sports like athletics or swimming you dont say whats the Australian Records and decide if you will swim or run based on if you can beat the top athletes in the country?? Thats not real life.... The reality for the majority of lifters is they will never break a National Open Class Record in their weight division. But guess what? Most people that play club footy wont make it to th...e NRL and most people that compete in athletics will never break the National 100m Sprint Record. But when you go to play your chosen sport you go to do the best you can on that given day, to try and beat who ever else you are competing against. Yes powerlifting is a sport and that is the actual point of a meet - go and try and win your class. Its not about records, breaking a record is a bonus. The problem is the sport of powerlifting currently, while growing rapidly people are choosing meets for the wrong reasons. In no other sport do you really choose the competition? The dates are set for States and Nationals and everyone competes to qualify. If you dont qualify at one meet, you go to the next one and try. Pulling out of the meet because your not strong enough or not ready. Ive never seen someone not turn up to a football game because they werent ready or only turn up to the game because it was a team they could beat.. Not every meet will be a perfect meet and not everyone has their best day in every competition. It doesnt matter what you do on instagram, that doesnt make a difference on meet day. The best insta-lifters are often terrible meet lifters. You also learn more from a bad meet than you do from a good meet. Play the sport, figure out what you need to do better next time. Make the adjustments, train to get better at the sport, test it out at the next meet. The photo is of Doug Young on the podium at the 1976 IPF worlds.. Doug won 3 IPF world championships in a row. 1977 was one of them, he suffered 3 broken ribs in the squat and then went on to finish the meet and total 887kg @110kg by way of 317/247/322kg.

16.01.2022 Best New Years Resolution.. Get into a powerlifting gym ... #Repost @blackflagbarbell (@get_repost) Every year, commercial gyms across the country become packed with the New Years Resolution crowd. Around February, those gyms are back to their normal routine with 99% of those who claimed 2018 was their year, their time to shine, having fallen back into the same old routine of not training. You know who Im talking about, hell, you might even be that person who star...ts training only to fall off the wagon and make the same resolution next year. If that rings true, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and come train with us for three months. What have you got to lose? Your comfort zone has gotten you to where you are today, and if youre still reading this that means you arent happy with that reality. Which means you are going to have to do something different. Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. So why fall into the trap of the same old thing? Youve been to regular gyms, probably more than once, it hasnt worked and it hasnt stuck. So again, I challenge you. Come train with us for three months. Focus on strength training and solid technique, and I promise you you will see progress that you havent seen in a long, long time. Whether its losing weight, gaining muscle, running a quicker 10k or improving your lifts. It will be hard, that is why it works. You will learn new skills that you can take with you to any gym on the planet, and see continued success. You will meet new friends and training partners, to keep you accountable and push you to reach your goals. We have three places available train with us for three months, at the 12 month coaching rate of $40/week. For those who did general maths (like me), thats $173/month and well throw in four one on one sessions to get you started. So for $40/week, you receive: A community that is training to better themselves and those around them #nswstrong #nswpowerlifting #powerlifting See more

01.01.2022 Joey hitting 282kg which is an All-Time NSW deadlift record at 75kg #nswpowerlifting #nswstrong #Repost @protein_and_chemicals (@get_repost) The 282kg Australian Deadlift Record in the U74kg division.... After my Squats didnt go to plan earlier in the meet, I had to stay composed and re focus. My Dad @patzinghini spoke to me, and we agreed I had to prove to myself, my clients and others that you can bounce back. This lift was all I was thinking about. My warm ups felt amazing. The opener and 2nd attempt felt so damn good. I started to envision my 3rd attempt. This gave me so much confidence. It helped me go to a new level, mentally. It was on. The lift felt Smooth AF! It came off the floor pretty well and I knew then I had it. You can say I was pretty happy when I saw those 3 white lights What made it more special was it was in front of my parents and I got to lift with my BTeeFul girl @tee_bone___. Mum and Dad came to Melbourne to watch our Team @strong_247 compete. Mum cried. Dad said he was falling asleep, thats why his head was down in the video (he teared up too). All those hours of training, the ups, the downs, every emotion you experience in this game, is so worth it. Have satisfaction, but never be satisfied. Keen for more next year!

01.01.2022 #Repost @yeahthefaz with @get_repost Liftoff . Throw back to when i broke the 83kg div IPF open deadlift world record. 316kg on the bar and i knew it was mine soon as i put my hands around it.... . This one took a while to reach, so long infact i know most people would have given up because some of those people told me to stop trying or that ive hit my genetic limit and cant get it...but i knew better. How long exactly? Well, for starters i had plateaued on 290kg for close to 2 years, not joking. . Two years i tried freakin everything and it did not budge. I even managed to take a toe out in the process but still kept at it and bashed down a few doors til i finally figured it the fuck out. And to no surprise the solution was a very simple one. . Although being stuck is frustrating, figuring it out is half the fun for me. Once i figured it out it started to move again - I became the first open lifter in Powerlifting Australias history to deadlift 300 raw at any bodyweight under 93kg (i was in the 83kg div). From there 300 soon became 310 and eventually after some failed attempts 310 became the world record. I remember the days where 200kg was hard. . The point is dont get frustrated instead learn to stick to what you want and get stubborn about making it happen. If youre around long enough it just will. See more
