17.01.2022 On this day last year, NSW experienced some of its worst fire danger ever recorded at the time with Catastrophic fire danger forecast across the Sydney, Greater Hunter and Illawarra/Shoalhaven areas, leading to widespread school closures. Fire danger ratings are an important tool to help you make decisions about what to do and under these conditions, your only safe option is to leave early. You can learn more about the fire danger ratings, and check the rating for your area each day, at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr

09.01.2022 Some sad news for the NSW RFS family. Albert Newtown, who was recently recognised for 70 incredible years of service protecting his local community, passed away this week. Albert was an important part of the Bilpin brigade and our thoughts are with the brigade, as well as Albert's family and friends.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning... We will remember them. Lest we forget.
