25.01.2022 TILBUSTER - FINAL UPDATE AT 2:05PM: All lanes of the New England Highway have reopened after the earlier truck crash. Crews remain on site, continuing the clean...-up on the side of the road so take care through the area. +++ TILBUSTER - UPDATE AT 1:45PM: You can now pass the site of this truck crash on the New England Highway at Sunnyside Road. One lane of the highway is open under stop/slow traffic control. Allow extra travel time and take care through the area as emergency services and traffic crews remain on site, continuing the clean-up. +++ TILBUSTER: (North of Armidale) New England Highway is closed in both directions due to a truck crash at Sunnyside Road. Use Waterfall Way between Armidale and Ebor and Guyra Road between Ebor and Guyra. This diversion is suitable for all vehicles however will add around an extra 80 minutes travel time to trips. 24.01.2022 Due to the Covid 19 Rules Deepwater Brigade will be open to the public on Saturday 19th September 10 am - 12 pm. Everyone welcome. Come talk to us about getting ready for this fire season. NOTE: there will be NO BBQ as previously advertised.

20.01.2022 CHRISTMAS / NEW YEAR FIRE PERMIT SUSPENSION The Northern Tablelands Bushfire Management Committee (BFMC) wishes to advise that fire permits will be suspended ov...er the Christmas and New Year period. That is from Monday 21st December 2020 to 3rd January 2021. The suspension covers the Inverell, Glen Innes / Severn, and Tenterfield Local Government Areas. The reason for this BFMC approved strategy is due to the reduced number of volunteer firefighters available during this period of the year. Please remember that Fire Permit Issuing Officers are generally volunteers who would also like to have a break and enjoy Christmas and New Year with family and loved ones without interruption. 15.01.2022 Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott, has announced Rob Rogers as the new Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service. Commissioner Rogers h...as been acting in the role following the departure of Shane Fitzsimmons in May. Following a competitive recruitment process, Rob has been appointed to the role to see the Service through the next season and beyond. I’m excited by the opportunity but also very mindful of the challenges ahead, especially after last season’s terrible conditions. I look forward to continuing on the path we have set over the past few months like our priorities which focus on our volunteers and community the things that matter most like improving the way we respond to incidents, and the trucks and equipment that our members use. The NSW RFS is an organisation that has been a part of my life for a very long time and I’m looking forward to continuing to build it and support its members into the future.

14.01.2022 The NSW Rural Fire Service is advising landowners that they can now go online and use our new burn notification tool to let us know when they plan to burn. Thi...s tool will allow residents who would normally ring prior to lighting their pile burn, agricultural land clearing or bona fide hazard reductions to now notify online. As the Bushfire Danger Period is currently in place for all land in the Northern Tablelands and New England areas, you are required to obtain a Fire Permit in the usual manner, however notification can be via the new tool. Permit holders are required to activate their permit when they receive it. This can be done online or via phone before you plan to light the fire. 13.01.2022 RFS members from across the Glen Innes Severn area and Fire Rescue, Glen Innes Station, were presented their Premiers citation today at the Glen Innes Fire Cont...rol Centre. The Premiers Bushfire Emergency Citation is to recognise the outstanding contribution of volunteers and service agency personnel who played a significant role in the emergency response effort to combat the 2019-2020 bushfires in NSW. Your comments are invited on the Northern Tablelands Draft Bush Fire Risk Management Plan on public exhibiti...on from the 16th October 2020 at the Inverell, Tenterfield and Glen Innes Visitor Information Centres and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Inverell, Tenterfield and Glen Innes Fire Control Centres. This is an important document that aims to protect our community and assets said Archie Cameron, Chairperson of the Northern Tablelands BFMC. Everyone should take the opportunity to have a look at the plan to ensure that their views are addressed. A Bush Fire Risk Management Plan (BFRMP) is a comprehensive document that maps and describes the level of bush fire risk across an area and the proposed treatments to minimise and mitigate the risk. The Northern Tablelands BFRMP has recently been reviewed. The Northern Tablelands Bush Fire Management Committee invites the people of the Inverell, Tenterfield and Glen Innes Severn Shires to view the Draft Bush Fire Risk Management Plan and make comments by 30 November 2020 The plan identifies bush fire issues, identifies assets at risk, assesses the level of risk, and establishes treatment strategies to minimise the risks. The responsible agency required to implement treatments is also identified in the BFRMP. These treatment strategies may directly affect you and your property. 04.01.2022 At 7:27pm our #HazmatTanker was responded to a Hazmat incident on the New England Hwy 10kms south of Deepwater. A B-double travelling north had left the roadway and travelled a distance through the table drain before merging back on the roadway, in doing so one of the trucks fuel tanks were ruptured causing an amount of diesel to spilt on the roadway, #Police, #DeepwaterRFS and #RMS were also in attendance.
