22.01.2022 Far North Coast Group Officer Mark Eglington attended Government House this week to be presented with the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM). Mark was accompanied by his wife Judy to the ceremony where presentations were made by Governor Margret Beasley AC QC. Mark has dedicated over 30 years of service to the NSW RFS, helping his local community and those in need across New South Wales and Australia. Congratulations Mark on this great achievement, it is truely well deserved.

Visit Billinudgel / Ocean Shores Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade at 2 Wilfred St, Billinudgel between 09:00 and 12:00. Visit Tweed Coast Rural Fire Brigade at Centennial Dr, Pottsville between 09:00 and 14:00. Head to Kunghur Rural Fire Brigade at Kyogle Road, Kunghur between 10:00 and 14:30. 19.01.2022 Early end to Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) The BFDP finished at midnight Sunday the 28th February for the Ballina, Byron, Lismore, Kyogle, Richmond Valley and Tweed Shires. From today (Monday the 1st March) fire permits will not be required. ... However, you still must call the Burn Notification Line on 1300 632 174 at least 24 hour prior to burning, and advise neighbours in all directions. 05.01.2022 NSW Rural Fire Service crews remain on scene at a truck rollover on the Pacific Highway, Yelgun. The Highway remains closed northbound, with one lane remaining open southbound under significantly reduced speed. Northbound traffic are being diverted to Tweed Valley Way to Murwillumbah, and return to the M1 at Chinderah interchange. This will add around 25 minutes to your travel time. This route is not suitable for B-Doubles, who are being parked.
05.01.2022 Tweed Coast Rural Fire Brigade and NSW RFS Wardell have each recently taken delivery of a new Category 1 Fire Tanker worth over $350 000. These new trucks will replace their older trucks which will be upgraded and issued to another Brigade in NSW. The new automated trucks come fitted with a front mounted monitor, fridge, and other upgraded electrical features. The new trucks will be a valuable addition to their local communities and the NSW Far North Coast Team.
