23.01.2022 From our family here at NSW RFS - Mullumbimby Brigade, to you and yours, have a merry and safe Christmas! We hope that Christmas gives you some much needed joy, for 2021 in particular! Remember that cooking/camping fires do not require a fire permit provided they are less than 1m x 1m and in a cleared area with a method of extinguishing readily available. May everyone have a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

10.01.2022 Tonight at drill we practiced our door entry skills in a house on fire. It sounds simple enough, but entering any building on fire includes many risks. So befo...re we enter, we cool the gases and linings around us so that the smoke or flame that exits the door meets cool gases and moist surfaces. After reading the fire behaviour indicators we cautiously open the door and introduce water fog into the upper zone to cool those gases. The risk assessment conducted may indicate the entry is not possible. Or it may be necessary to repeat the process several times. How many pulses, their duration and angle will be largely dependent on the geometry of the compartment and the stage of fire development. #FRNSW #FireandRescue #MoreThanFire #protectingtheirreplaceable #drill
