23.01.2022 Hot weather is coming to parts of NSW over the next few days. The recent rain means increased growth and as it dries out, the risk of fire will increase. Take the time now to know your risk and get ready. Check www.myfireplan.com.au for advice on making your bush fire survival plan.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to former NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons, tonight named the NSW Australian Of The Year. 19.01.2022 A BIG thank you to the Orana Volunteers who have had a big day with 8 call outs today alone and multiple call outs during the week. Also the weather forecast for tomorrow Sunday is not that good so please be fire safe.

18.01.2022 Crews were responded to a large crop fire this afternoon. Crews from Trangie worked alongside multiple NSW Rural Fire Service units from around Trangie. Crews f...rom Fire and Rescue NSW assisted with containing the large fire and provide property protection to a house under threat. This is a timely reminder to ensure to have access to a water cart during harvest. If you see a fire unattended please call 000. #preparedforanything #nswrfs #nswfr #NSWAmbulance #NSWPolice #harvest2020 See more

11.01.2022 HARVEST FIRES There have been a number of header and farm machinery fires recently, a timely reminder of the risks around harvest time and precautions to prevent the loss of machinery and crops. YOUR CROP = YOUR DECISION It is your responsibility to limit the ignition and prevent the spread of fires from your property.... MAINITAIN YOUR MACHINERY You should ensure that machinery is *Free from faults or mechanical defects that could start a fire *Fitted with an approved spark arrestor *Carrying fire suppression equipment such as a 9L water extinguisher, 0.9 dry powder extinguisher or a 16L knapsack spray pump filled with water CREATE FIREBREAKS Firebreaks can help stop crop and grass fires from spreading to valuable assets. The NSW RFS recommends you mow, graze or plough around crops, valuable assets and fence lines to prevent fires from escaping your property and reduce the likelihood of fires entering.
