15.01.2022 Running out of ways to keep the kids active? Even before the pandemic, Dr Nicole Nathan had worked with us to help schools make sure kids get enough activity. The University of Newcastle public health academic says movement is important for your family's mental health.... Here are some of Dr Nathan's tips: - Be kind to yourself. Your kids will move less right now than you'd like, but that's to be expected. - Get out as a family for a walk, while you can under the restrictions. - Watch YouTube videos about yoga and meditation. - Download an app like UoN's "Resistance Training for Teens". - Do it with them. Take a break from working at home. Every 30 minutes you can all get a bit active. - Set family goals like completing push-ups, skipping rope or running a certain distance. "Game-ify it". - If you can, follow a daily routine. Listen: Dr Nathan spoke to ABC Newcastle's Dan Cox. Link to their conversation in the comments below.
