22.01.2022 As some of you may be aware, Central Coast Referee Shaun Greentree had a serious accident while playing AFL on the 19th of September 2020. Shaun was a former member of our Junior Representative Squad. He was paralysed from the neck down. The respondents airlifted him from the footy field directly to Royal North Shore Hospital. He is currently in a stable condition in ICU, and will soon move to the rehab ward. He fractured his C- spine (C3-C5 vertebrae ) resulting in an Incomp...lete Spinal Cord Injury. The injury is complicated because of the bleeding, swelling and inflammation in and around the spinal cord. Until the swelling goes down and Shaun completes rehab it’s uncertain if he’s current deficits are temporary or permanent. Shaun is genuine, strong and just an all round good bloke. Anyone that’s had the pleasure of being in Shaun’s presence knows this! However, the next few months are going to be tough for him and his family. 17.01.2022 NSWRLRA member # 817 Peter Digby was presented with Life Membership of the Newcastle Rugby League. The Presentation occurred on local Grand Final Day due to Covid-19 restrictions. A very proud and long serving referee and official Peter completed 50 years of involvement in Rugby League. He has been a player, a coach, a referee, a referees coach, match day official and committee man, and always enjoyed his involvement in Rugby League and has made many lifetime friends. Attached is a photo of the presentation, made to Peter by Newcastle Rugby League Director Mark Hanlon.
