17.01.2022 Today is the 1 year anniversary since the devastating 2019/2020 fires began in our area. In light of this members from around the district were invited to attend the opening of the ‘Hope out of the ashes’ exhibition at the Wollondilly Heritage Centre & Museum, along with former RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons. Two of our members were privileged to be involved in this opening. The exhibition reflects on the development of the RFS over the years, how something so devastati...ng brought out the best in our communities and how we are managing to recover by supporting eachother. Commissioner Fitzsimmons spoke very highly of the efforts of the staff at Wollondilly Historic museum, all RFS volunteers, and paid a special tribute to all those who lost their lives during the fires. Today we ask that you take a moment to remember all those who gave their lives to protect their communities during the 2019/2020 fires.
