Tocal College's GROW (Generating Regionally Outstanding Women) is a professional development program for female leaders and emerging leaders (or those who would like to be) in the NSW cotton, grains, rice, production horticulture, rice and viticulture industries. Our Grenfell ladies went through: Reviewing their own history - including wins and challenges Learning about coping and stress management strategies ... Flipping their concepts about themselves to see the resilience and strength they had Identifying ways to use those strengths to set SMARTR goals and achieve great outcomes Learning how to say no, strategies for good communication and public speaking. By participating in this research opportunity, you can help make a difference to communities across Australia, as well as being eligible to enter the prize draws to win one of 29 prizes worth a total of $9,200. This year there is a special focus on understanding how events including COVID-19, drought, bushfire and floods are affecting people and communities across Australia (as well as asking some of our usual questions). A range of community, farming and health organisations will be able to use this data and findings to help support your communities in the future. Over 8 weeks between October and November, the events will aim to help support rural and regional women after some seriously tough times. The first event of the series will be held on the International Day of Rural Women on October 15 via Zoom from 7.30pm - 9pm. ... Event 1 - What do I need right now? This event is a panel session where we will hear from rural women who are lived-experience trauma survivors rural women who have thrived beyond the disaster they faced. 04.01.2022 The NSW Rural Women’s Network, in partnership with The Rural Woman, are proud to announce a new project, the BETreat Reset Sessions for Rural Women. These BETreat sessions will be covered online over 8 weeks between October and November and aim to help support rural and regional women after some seriously tough times. Minister for Women, Bronnie Taylor MLC, said the series will recognise and support the essential role women continue to play in helping regional com...munities recover and thrive after the prolonged drought, bushfires, and COVID-19 pandemic. Women are often the lifeblood of rural and regional communities and time and again are the ones who hold the people around them up during tough times, Mrs Taylor said. The program aims to provide them with an opportunity to breathe and reset, as well as gain some essential skills to help them continue to support their families and communities. The powerful and practical sessions will help them in areas such as having difficult conversations and recognising the importance of looking after themselves first. The series will be launched on the International Day of Rural Women on October 15 and events will be hosted during October and November via Zoom. Rural Women’s Network Senior Coordinator, Allison Priest, said the sessions have been designed in response to feedback gathered from teams on the frontline of the recovery and rebuilding process in rural NSW. Each 90-minute session will be hosted and presented by subject matter experts and those with lived experience in disaster recovery, Mrs Priest said. The primary focus is on providing ‘time out’ rather than overloading participants with new information and education.
