24.01.2022 The four photos depict different eras in the history of the 30th Infantry Battalions Annual Church Parades. On New Year’s Day 1936 the battalion made its first public appearance as a fully turned out Highland Regiment. The second time was at the Annual Church Parade which is depicted in the first photo. When the battalion was re-raised on the 1st of July1948 the tradition continued. The second phots show LTCOL Norman Peach laying a wreath at the Cenotaph, in the foreground is... LT Bruce Bell assistant adjutant before marching to St Stephens Presbyterian Church. Macquarie Street, Sydney. Since the commencement of the 30th Battalions’ Annual Church Parade in November 1998 the NSW Scottish Regimental Association and members from the 2/30th Battalion AIF and the 30 Battalion (1939-45) AIF Association have marched from Hyde Park North to the St Stephen’s Uniting Church where our Colours are laid up. They're led by the Association’s Pipes and Drums. In the early 2000’s Alpha Coy Scottish provided a guard. In later years just the Associations paraded. The time has now arrived when it has been decided that this year will be the last 30th Battalions’ Annual Church Parade. We urge members and friends to attend our final Church Parade. After the Church Service, the End of Year Formal Lunch will be held at the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel. Haggis will be served and the traditional Address to the Haggis will be performed. Another very good reason to attend. Contact Frank Woodhams President of the NSW Scottish Regimental Association on Mobile: 0418 234 892 or email: [email protected] for further information.

23.01.2022 Vicki Nixon the daughter of SGT Frank Gough sent in another WO & SGTs photo taken at Singleton Camp in 1955. Frank Gough is second from the left top line and also the middle of the second photo. All of us who were in the "Scottish" at that time would remember Frank. We trained hard and played hard and Frank was always at the forefront of both. Great photo Vickie. If you have similar photos of family send them so we can post them on our Facebook page.

17.01.2022 Today we remember all those men and women who have served our great nation the Commonwealth of Australia in times of peace and war. We especially remember all those who have served in all the 30th Infantry Battalions. WWI 30th Battalion, 8 Brigade, 5th Australian Division, 1st AIF 1914 1918. Western Front WW2 2/30th Battalion, 27 Brigade, 8th Australian Division 2nd AIF 1939 1945. Malaya Singapore... WW2 30th Battalion, 8 Brigade, 5th Australian Division !939 1945 New Guinea The photo is of the 2/30th Battalion marching along Park Street on ANZAC Day 1951. Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Gallenghan known as Blackjack Gallenghan to his men was the Commanding Office of the 2/30th Battalion. I am sure he would be the person behind the 2/30th Banner, proudly leading His Men. It appears there are approximately 130 marching. Today there are no surviving members of the 2/30th Battalion. A tribute from all the former members who served in the post war 30th Infantry Battalion, 8th Brigade, 2nd Division 1948 -1960 to all those who served in the three 30th Battalion. We must not forget the 70 members of the NSW Scottish Rifles who volunteered and serve in Africa during the Boer War 1899 1902.
