23.01.2022 Update Since Friday evening we have received 14 flood rescue calls with 11 of them being around the Central Coast for cars trapped in floodwater. We have re...ceived 1030 jobs with 46 overnight. The majority of jobs are for leaking roofs due to that heavy rain as well as trees and branches down over cars, roofs and roads. The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that the weather will be unsettled for most of this week Today will be a bit quieter weather-wise but there is the chance of storms across most of NSW tomorrow. The BoM are advising that more heavy rain is expected throughout the week from the Hunter down to the Illawarra with the chance of widespread rain over Sydney. Remember: if it’s flooded, forget it! Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater. There are simple things you can do to help protect your family during a storm: https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au//simple-things-/during-a-storm/

13.01.2022 Drought, soaking rain, then wind. It’s a recipe for tree chaos. The unit this evening was called to a tree blocking access on a property at Red Range, so after a quick reconnoiter we rallied a team and got to work reestablishing access and making the area safe for the residents. We ask everyone who sees this to please check your trees around your property, and if necessary employ the services of an arborist to make sure your dwellings are safe from potential falling trees. ...If you need assistance with Storm, Flood, or Tsunami call us on 132500. Or if the situation is life threatening call 000 first.

04.01.2022 On Saturday the Glen Innes and Tenterfield SES Units supported their neighbouring unit at Deepwater for their open day. People from all over town showed up to support their local unit as the members showed off their life saving medical and mechanical skills, from Community First Response to Road Crash Rescue, you know you’re in safe hands with Deepwater SES. Not only did the members get to show off their training, but there was celebration to be had as well, with our Deputy... Zone Commander Mitch Parker handing out the NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation to members who supported the RFS through last year’s Black Summer Bushfires as well as a few long service awards. It was a great day centred around fostering support from the local community and building up the networks that allow us to save lives and protect communities. If think you can see yourself in orange sign up to become a member of your local SES unit https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/volunteer there’s a place for everyone and every skill in the SES, and we’d love to see you there.

04.01.2022 #BePrepared With thunderstorm activity over NSW expected to develop over the east of the state from today, there is the possibility of localised and flash floo...ding in some areas across NSW Friday and Saturday. Whilst no warnings have been issued at this stage, thunderstorm warnings are likely to be issued throughout this period, particularly on Friday and Saturday. Depending on the volume of rain received in catchments, flood warnings could also be issued should catchments receive sufficient rainfall. If you come across floodwaters, please turn around, crossing flooded roads or causeways is not worth the risk. If it's flooded - forget it! Over the next few days, be sure to visit the Bureau of Meteorology for the latest weather warnings affecting your location. http://bit.ly/2wuOXWt #GetReady See more

01.01.2022 Severe storms are currently lashing areas of the New England. NSW SES crews across the region are being mobilised now to respond to the large number of requests... for assistance being received. Be patient - if you have rung the NSW SES for support, a crew will be on their way, but please appreciate the time this might take in these storm circumstances. If you need assistance please call the NSW SES on 132 500. During these storm conditions, we also advise residents: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

01.01.2022 The NSW SES Deepwater Unit will be conducting a Come and Try Open Day on Saturday November 21 between 10am - 2pm. The unit is hoping to attract members to supp...ort the local community during floods, storms, road crash rescue and community first response through NSW Ambulance. It will be an open day style event, with a free BBQ and volunteers will be showing off rescue and first response techniques used during emergencies. This will allow people interested in taking part to use real rescue tools, cutting up a car under instruction and guidance of a qualified rescue operator. Ambulance Service Paramedics will also be onsite, running through medical scenarios with hands on experience for the interested parties. There will be tours of the unit and vehicle equipment as well. For more information, please contact Mitch Parker from the NSW SES on 0458 012 256.
