West Slopes and Plains and Central West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts. Issued at 2:57 pm Friday, 24 January 2020. STORM OUTBREAK FOR NORTHEAST NSW Weather Situation: A low pressure trough across northeast New South Wales combined with very moist air will bring thunderstorms to parts of northeast New South Wales on Friday. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Maitland, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Walgett. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. 06.01.2022 The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is encouraging residents to use the weekend to prepare for possible thunderstorms and periods of heavy rain that are predicted to develop early Sunday and into early next week. Mid North Coast NSW SES

03.01.2022 Wet weekend ahead with possible severe weather! Good time to prep your home now The BOM forecasters suggest that a Coastal Low will develop on the weekend, w...ith central and northern parts of the NSW coast currently being the most favoured areas to affect. Please note: 1. It is too early to pin-point precisely how the low will develop, and its exact location and intensity will drive the final impact. 2. Depending on how close to the NSW coast the low develops, and how long it lingers, there is potential for severe weather conditions, such as: Areas of heavy rainfall, causing road and riverine flooding. Locally damaging winds, strong enough to bring down trees and powerlines mainly near the coast. Large and powerful waves, resulting in hazardous beach conditions and the potential for coastal erosion. As the system moves away from the coast, there is potential for Lord Howe island to experience heavy rain and large surf. NOW is a good time to prepare your home while the weather is good. Quick Tips.... Check and clean your gutters Secure any outdoor items including furniture and trampolines Move your vehicle and don't park under branches or trees.
