22.01.2022 Whilst the first of our #summer #storms seems to be doing a bit of dance up above us in the Bay & Basin & trying to make up its mind whether it will stick around & unleash a downpour on us, or scurry out to sea ... best move those cars undercover, but away from large trees. It would be a good idea to tie up loose objects around your yard as well. Many of our local #pets get a little flighty with all the grizzling around them, so please check to make sure they are se...cure and safe if you have to leave them. Don't forget that in case of #storm emergency, call the SES on 132500. All other life threatening emergencies, dial triple zero (000). See more

12.01.2022 Santa has come early to #SUSSEX, #Swanhaven, #Cudmirrah & #Berrara with the delivery of an SES CACHE located near the Aquatic Centre at Thomson St, Sussex Inlet. The Cache (storage container) stores items for use by the Community Action Team (CAT). It forms part of the SES's commitment to working with the local community to enable them to become more resilient & prepare for inevitable bad weather. It also links in with your community forums. CATs are YOU, occasional #volun...teers from YOUR #community. As CATs, you’ll be assisting YOUR community when conditions deem it necessary. You’ll be given some basic training by qualified SES members & you’ll operate under SES insurance. When the weather threatens, you’ll be on the spot to hand out #sandbags, plastic sheeting etc to local residents as needed. You’ll be able to offer advice on preparation & what threats to look for. You don't have to fill the sandbags yourself but, feel free, it's good exercise. Please watch this page & your community forums for further news. We are keen to meet up with new volunteers from your community in 2021. In the meantime, our best wishes to you all for #Christmas & the #NewYear from all at NSW SES St Georges Basin Unit Chris Wheeler, Commander, SES SGB Radio 2ST ABC Illawarra South Coast Register
