25.01.2022 NSW SES put skills to the test at Exercise Keepit Saturday 10th/Sunday 11th October 2015 This weekend the NSW State Emergency Service Namoi Region will test their skills and capabilities in a large exercise being held at Lake Keepit. 100 SES volunteers will take part in the exercise which will showcase the high level of ability and skills within the emergency services environment.... The exercise will see volunteers participate in a number of tasks which include flood rescue skills in flood boats, storm response skills such as chainsaw operations, search and rescue techniques, road crash and vertical rescue techniques and demonstrations. The exercise also provides an opportunity to display and discuss other roles SES performs such as the Community First Responder role with NSW Ambulance. Namoi Region Deputy Region Controller Heath Stimson said Exercise Keepit provides a unique opportunity for SES volunteers to come together and build their skills, knowledge and capability at such a large scale event. Mr Stimson went on to say The weekend will enable volunteers to exercise some of the most challenging tasks and roles that the SES perform in a safe and positive environment. The NSW SES welcomes members of the public to attend over the weekend between 10am and 3pm both days. Exercise Keepit will be held at the NSW Sport and Recreation Facility at Lake Keepit. Members of the public are asked to drive to the Sport and Recreation carpark where they will be guided from there.

09.01.2022 There are many low lying causeways across the area closed due to flooding. Armidale and Tamworth Units have already responded to 3 flood rescues in this event, ...from drivers ignoring these hazards and then getting trapped in their vehicles. Please remember to never walk, ride or drive through flood water. You not only place your own life at risk but those of the emergency services who perform the rescue.
