25.01.2022 Roofs blown off houses, trees down, animal rescues, houses flooded, windows damaged, Road Crash Rescues and Flood Rescues are just a few of the 122 tasks that S...ES volunteers in the New England Area have been called out to in the last couple of days. On Thursday evening the township of Moree was hit by an intense storm with wind gusts recorded of 109km p/hr and rainfall at Moree 49mm & Narrabri 42mm and a total of 44 Requests for Assistance. Moree SES Unit was assisted by neighboring Units of Warialda, Bingara, Narrabri and Wee Waa and were supported by RFS, FRNSW and Moree Plains Shire Council. Storms came through again in Friday evening with more callouts for our SES Volunteers, affecting the townships of Tamworth, Werris Creek, Quirindi, Manilla, TIngha, Inverell, Armidale, Wee Waa, Gunnedah, Tenterfield, Narrabri and Walcha. In the early hours of this morning SES teams were again called out to a Flood Rescue at Caroona. Gunnedah, Liverpool Plains (Quirindi), Tambar Springs and Murrurundi SES Units travelled almost an hour to reach the scene. The Flood Rescue was difficult, and a multi-agency strategy was successful which included Police, RFS, Ambulance Rescue, Westpac Helicopter and VRA. This is on top of months of support work to our fellow RFS, fulfilling Incident Management Roles where many volunteers have assisted in Logistics, catering and delivery of supplies. This is just a snapshot of the great work that the volunteers train so hard for, so that they can help the community when needed.
