25.01.2022 Members of the Tumut Unit were involved in a very tricky vertical rescue incident this evening. The Unit successfully rescued an uninjured male and a large dog who had become stuck on a cliff ledge in remote location in the Ellerslie Range west of Adelong.

20.01.2022 Earlier this week we were called to Adelong Fall to a person that had fallen 3m onto rocks 467 Fire and Rescue NSW worked along side Tumut SES, Local Ambulance... , Ambulance Rescue, Toll Careflight Rescue Helicopter , Police and Rural Fire Service to remove the patient from the site An excellent result was achieved by all crews on site and the patient was trasported to hospital by the Toll Helicopter See more

19.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in Riverina and parts of Lower Western Forecast Districts.... Issued at 3:40 pm Thursday, 2 May 2019. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Albury, Deniliquin, Griffith, Hay, Narrandera, Ivanhoe, Finley, Holbrook, Lockhart, Jerilderie, Hillston and Darlington Point. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. 19.01.2022 The NSW SES is monitoring the ever-changing situation in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety and well-being of our members, and the wider community is... our highest priority. The NSW SES is implementing several measures to ensure the continuity of our operations and support our volunteers. When calling for emergency help during floods and storms, the NSW SES will ask you for additional information, including whether you are currently in isolation or have cold / flu symptoms so our volunteers can take additional safety precautions when providing emergency help. The NSW SES will continue to support communities become better prepared for severe weather events and respond to communities in need over the coming months. While our NSW SES Response Team is traveling to your property, they may contact you via mobile phone seeking pictures or videos of the damage to your home or business. NSW SES volunteers will maintain appropriate physical distancing whilst at your property and may need to communicate with you via mobile phone in some circumstances. We may also provide self- help advice so you can do temporary repairs to your own home or business. We will only do this if appropriate and safe to do so, given the circumstances and nature of the damage and actions required to make your property safe. We appreciate your support whilst we implement these important measures so we can continue to provide emergency services to the community while protecting the safety of our volunteers. 10.01.2022 FLASH FLOODING IN SNOWY VALLEYS AREA - FLASH FLOODING IN TUMBARUMBA - STAY AWAY FROM LOW LYING AREAS -CREEKS AND RIVERS

10.01.2022 Over the weekend a multi-agency emergency exercise was held in conjunction with the Warby Motorsport world water speed record trials on Blowering Dam. Participating were SES members from Tumut, Junee and Wagga. VRA members from Batlow, Binalong, Corowa, Deniliquin and Albury and RFS members from Riverina Highlands. Some of the skills practiced were floodboat operations, navigation, communications and search techniques. Thanks must go to all who gave up a whole weekend for this important and valuable initiative.

10.01.2022 This week we had a thank you BBQ for the members for there efforts during the year. We also presented two members with cerficates. One to Dan Reakes for obtaining his vertical rescue qualification and a five year long service award to Peter Thompson. Well done to both members on their achievements. I take this opportunity to wish all the members and their families a very merry and safe Xmas and look forward to working with you all in the coming year.

06.01.2022 Dave Warby will be returning to Blowering Dam this weekend for SPIRIT2 - August speed trials in preparation for his attempt on the world water speed record. Thi...s record is currently held by his father Ken at 511.11 km/h. "Vessel operators are advised that a Special Event pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998 is to be held on Blowering Dam, near Tumut, between 8:00am and 6:00pm on Saturday 31 August 2019 and Sunday 1 September 2019. EXCLUSION ZONE Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Roads and Maritime have issued a Direction Notice pursuant to clause 22 of the Marine Safety Regulation 2016 to David Warby to conduct trials on the waters of Blowering Dam, near Tumut, involving the use of a high speed vessel powered by a jet engine which will be active on the waterway at varying times on the days specified above. An EXCLUSION ZONE is therefore specified during the trials and will be declared by Authorised Officers on-site at varying times on each day. The Exclusion Zone will comprise the entirety of Blowering Dam. This will in effect close the Dam between the above times and when the vessel is being operated." https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au//so1940-blowering-dam-tumut-jet Please note that there will be no world record attempt this weekend. Spirit of Australia 2 - The Fastest Team on Water is launching from The Pines, Blowering Dam, but there are other vantage points available along the dam.
