24.01.2022 REMINDER RE NSW SES PROCEDURES | COVID-19 With the ongoing COVID-19 situation the NSW SES will continue to follow COVID-19 call taking and response procedures ...so our volunteers can stay safe whilst helping communities during storms and floods. In taking your call for emergency assistance we will ask if anyone at the property has flu-like symptoms or has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus. NSW SES will still respond to your request if you say yes to any or both of these questions. They will just use this information to use risk mitigation strategies so they can stay safe. While our NSW SES Response Team is traveling to your property, they may contact you via mobile phone seeking pictures or videos of the damage to your home or business. NSW SES volunteers will maintain appropriate physical distancing whilst at your property and may need to communicate with you via mobile phone in some circumstances. We may also provide self- help advice so you can do temporary repairs to your own home or business. We will only do this if appropriate and safe to do so, given the circumstances and nature of the damage and actions required to make your property safe. We appreciate your support whilst we implement these important measures so we can continue to provide emergency services to the community while protecting the safety of our volunteers. For emergency assistance in storms and floods call NSW SES on 132 500.

09.01.2022 SES - FLOOD EVACUATION WARNING - Condong, Tumbulgum and Surrounding areas. ISSUED 2pm - 17-12-2020 What is happening: The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting possible flooding for the Tweed River at Tumbulgum, Condong and surrounding areas. As a result residents and visitors to these areas should take action now to prepare for possible flood impacts. NSW SES is advising residents in low lying areas of the following locations that they may need to evacuation due to rising fl...ood water. These areas include: Tumbulgum and surrounding areas Condong and surrounding areas Low lying properties may experience impacts due to flash flooding and/or riverine flooding. Due to flooding: Tweed Valley Way to the north at Mohomad’s corner in the vicinity of Stotts Island is closed Tweed Valley Way to the south at Dinseys Creek is closed Terranora Road in North Tumbulgum may close Storm and flood impacts may interrupt essential services such as electricity, phones, internet, water and sewerage. People in these areas need to closely monitor weather and road closures and make informed decisions early based on individual circumstances. Residents should monitor the situation and be prepared to evacuate when instructed to do so. A Flood Evacuation Order will be issued by the NSW SES if and when evacuations are required. Where to go if Evacuation is required: Wherever possible, people should go and stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements. What we are expecting: Once floodwater begins inundating the area, road access may be cut. If you remain in the area after this time, you may become trapped and it may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you. What you need to do: Simple things you can do now: Lift possessions and important items above the predicted flood height. Take pets, essential items, warm clothes, medicines, insurance documents and valuables with you. Leave as early as possible to avoid restricted roads. Farmers should move animals and livestock to higher ground.
