22.01.2022 This isnt from our area but it is a great example of why we tell people to never drive through floodwater. You may drive the road everyday and know where it goes, but underneath that water, is it still there? Remember never walk, ride or drive through floodwater. If it's flooded, forget it.

21.01.2022 Making the best of the current situation. While the response to COVID-19 has prevented us from meeting and training as usual, Wauchope Unit are continuing to train via alternative methods. Tonight members joined in online via a skype session to continue our training in Storm and Water Damage Operations. While we may not be able to meet face-to-face, we still intend to continue our training in order to help us help you when you need it the most.

The NSW SES is implementing a number of measures to ensure the continuity of our operations and support our volunteers. Following advice from NSW Health, participation in non-essential community events, large meetings and ceremonies will be suspended. Volunteer training will be scaled back, but essential training will continue to maintain operational readiness. The NSW SES will continue to support communities become better prepared for severe weather events, and respond to communities in need over the coming months. When calling for emergency help during floods and storms, the NSW SES may ask you for additional information, including whether you are currently in isolation or have cold / flu symptoms so our volunteers can take additional safety precautions. We appreciate your assistance during this time. #NSWSES #covid19

07.01.2022 Thank You You! The Community! We had an outpouring of support from the community wanting to assist and help out where they could. ... Sandbags We put out the call for people to come fill sandbags and several people came to answer the call. To those families, friends and groups we say a massive THANK YOU! The time you gave meant more than you will know to the crews who were able to get out and complete their tasks without worrying if there were sandbags back at the unit. Food! So many people came by and donated pre-cooked meals and snack packs for our crews that ensured we had foot to eat while out and about. We would also like to make a special thanks to Adelle and Jacqui Shelley, a mother and daughter duo who came in to prepare us home cooked meals onsite for lunch and dinner after being cut off from their home and made sure we stopped to take a break and eat. You guys were absolutely amazing! Finally, as a whole community, WE THANK YOU! This was a stressful and scary time for everyone but you were so supportive, patient and understanding as we made our way through our list of jobs during this crazy time. We do what we do for YOU, so thank you for your amazing support!

06.01.2022 We will remember them. Lest we forget.
