20.01.2022 The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission has now furnished its report: 'Inquiry into NSW Police Force strip search practices' to Parliament. This final report in the LECC's ongoing inquiry into police strip search practices has identified that 'a recurrent issue throughout the Inquiry was the failure of officers to comply with, or at least to properly account for their compliance with, the legal thresholds for conducting a strip search.' 18.01.2022 Data obtained by state freedom of information laws has revealed that in the past year NSW police conducted 96 strip-searches on children. Approximately 21% of these children were Indigenous Australians. Sam Lee from Redfern Legal Centre said the figures "paint a disturbing new picture of police strip-searches during Covid-19.
