25.01.2022 A parliamentary committee is seeking your views on proposed changes to the NSW Rural Fire Service and Brigades Donations Fund. The proposed changes aim to overcome restrictions in how recent donations raised by Celeste Barber for the NSW Rural Fire Service may be used to support individuals and communities impacted by recent bushfires. 23.01.2022 Portfolio Committee No. 4 has just published its report on proposed water management changes set out in the following three bills: the Constitution Amendment (Water Accountability and Transparency) Bill 2020 the Water Management Amendment (Transparency of Water Rights) Bill 2020 the Water Management Amendment (Water Allocation Drought Information) Bill 2020. ... Two of the bills looked specifically into water transparency and disclosure of water ownership by members of Parliament. The third looked at the incorporation of specific information with regards to creating water sharing plans. The report recommends that debate on the bills proceed in the Upper House, and that concerns identified by stakeholders as set out in the report be addressed during debate in the House. 22.01.2022 Portfolio Committee 4 Industry will be holding its first public hearing into the long-term sustainability of the dairy industry in NSW this Wednesday 4 November. The committee will be hearing from key industry stakeholders including Dairy NSW and Dairy Australia, Dairy Connect, Dairy Farmers Milk Co-operative, NSW Farmers, and Vegan NSW, Vegan Australia, and Animal Liberation. 22.01.2022 Portfolio Committee No. 5 today also handed down its report regarding the allocation of the $51 million donated to the NSW RFS & Brigades Donations Fund by Celeste Barber's fundraising appeal. The committee recommended the establishment of a RFS Volunteers Benevolent Fund, administered cooperatively by the NSW Rural Fire Service, Volunteer Fire Fighters Association and the Rural Fire Servcice Association. It also recommended that the Trust Fund allocate an initial start-up budget for the benevolent Fund from any unallocated donated monies originating from the Ms Barber fund. The committee further recommended that the Rural Fires Amendment (NSW RFS and Brigades Donations Fund) Bill 2020 proceed to debate in the House.
