25.01.2022 Hi guys, Some of you may have seen predictions like the one below coming up in your news feeds this morning. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE understand that this is one o...f many possible outcomes and is unlikely at this stage. We will be sure to keep everyone up to date with the most accurate data available. Tropical lows on the monsoonal trough in the Gulf Of Carpentaria are the hardest things to predict in meteorology Dont believe all the hype you may see on some media Facebook pages!!! See more

20.01.2022 DON’T PANIC!!!!! The ECMWF model is showing that we could potentially have a a cyclone as early as next Tuesday 25-02-2020 This however is only one of several m...odels that I have looked at and is the only model predicting a cyclone impacting us at this stage. Also once in the Gulf Of Carpentaria these systems can do practically anything and it’s a long way off in terms of having an accurate prediction. At this stage we will keep you all update as much as necessary as we have in the past. See more

14.01.2022 Love a sunset on the river!

13.01.2022 UPDATE This will hopefully be the final cyclone update from us at KAB Lodge! The latest track from BOM shows cyclone Nora dying out pretty quickly once it r...eaches land, we have been forecasted some rain but not a lot at the moment. We hope for all those in the danger area that Nora continues to weaken before it gets any closer to land If anything changes dramatically we will let you know but for now at the Lodge we are feeling very relieved. Hope to see everyone soon!

13.01.2022 We are going to try our very first live video from KAB. The Borroloola Police and KABFC Committee will be addressing everyone shortly with an update of Cyclone Nora.

10.01.2022 Shes back and better than ever!!! A big shout out to Daniel, Micheal and Alana from In & Outboard Marine. We decided to upgrade to bigger motors so we could have counter rotating propellers. Not only did IO Marine supply and fit our beautiful new 115hp Yamahas they also gave Five Oclock Somewhere a full refit with new wiring, marine electronics and fuel management system. We had 10 years of good boating from our bf90 Hondas but couldnt go past the quality and reliabilit...y of Yamaha outboards. Even though we have an extra 50hp on the back we are actually using less fuel than before as we can practically idle at our old cruise speed. If youre looking at heading to King Ash Bay this year to do some fishing then give us a call or send us a message. Cheers Ash Garner

08.01.2022 Well maybe the wet isn't quite over yet . A little bit of unexpected moisture around today made the road a bit slippery. No stress though guys a day of sunshi...ne should dry it out pretty quick, you can still get out to KAB with a little caution. We will keep you updated over the next couple of days.

08.01.2022 Just a bit over 12 hours since the last photo and the boat ramp is almost under. The river is still rising, the big bridge in Borroloola is completely under and... the road to KAB looks like a river in some parts. Looks like we are having a wet season after all. Bring on the fishing

06.01.2022 I think this is appropriate for International Woman's Day Where my girls at???

06.01.2022 "Left-hand down, mate! Straighten her up now," he said. "Oi, do you want me to do it? We've all got places to be, cowboy."

06.01.2022 We are preparing to respond to the Aboriginal Land Commissioners review of the (parts of) McArthur River, Bing Bong, Robinson/Wearyan River and Manangoora Land ...Claims. This includes updating our statements of detriment. If you fish any of these areas, including from the King Ash Bay Fishing Club Inc (King Ash Bay) we need to hear from you NOW! Time is very limited so don't delay (closes Thursday March 15). The survey will only take you a few minutes.

05.01.2022 The Road into King Ash Bay is in good condition considering the time of year. Just a bit corrugated at the start with some minor wash outs. The road is complete...ly dry except for the puddle in the photo below. Also the boat ramp will be closed from 8am until 5pm this Friday the 16/3/2018 so that an excavator can clear away sand and mud which was deposited on the ramp over the wet. On the fishing front some fisherman have been doing quite well with 3 Barramundi over the magic metre caught in the last few days. Looking forward to seeing everyone again this season. See more

02.01.2022 I remember back in primary school learning about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Then early in high school having to read the book Sadako and the thousand paper cranes ...and having to make paper cranes to send to Japan. I remember learning about the bombing of Pearl Harbour. Sadly I cant recall a single class where I was taught or even told about what happened here on our very shores. On this day back in 1942 the largest ever attack by a foreign power began. In the morning of this day 78 years ago in the hot, humid, calm wet season morning 242 Japanese aircraft dropped 683 bombs (more than Pearl Harbour) over 2 attacks! 236 people killed (many civilians) 300-400 people injured 30 aircraft destroyed 11 vessels sunk 3 vessels grounded 25 ships damaged Northern Australia endured more than 100 air raid attacks over the course of WWII Today and every day we remember. Lest We Forget

02.01.2022 Well 2018 has nearly come to an end. Kate and I (Mostly Kate) have been running the lodge for 3 years now and are pleased to report we are just as enthusiastic ...about our little Buisness as the day we got the keys. Wed like to thank all of our customers from the past 3 years and all of our customers who are booked in for 2019 and 2020. Kate and I hope youre festive season has been at least half as good as ours has been in Europe. Thanks again and Happy New Year from Ash and Kate. See more
