13.02.2022 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for Selfless Service Petition There are so many Australians who have given, and are currently giving (too often unrecognised) service in fighting bushfires, floods, cyclones and the pandemic, in the hospitals, in lifesaving, in our protection and in so many other ways across the Northern Territory and beyond. On 6 February 2022, the Queen will have been 70 years on the throne, a milestone never reached before by any British monarch an...d by only three other monarchs in known history. In recognition for service during their reign, Jubilee Medals have been awarded since Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. In the UK, those who will receive the medal for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee are: 1. Serving members of the Armed Forces that have completed five full calendar years of service on 6 February 2022. 2. Frontline emergency services personnel that have been in paid service, retained or in a voluntary capacity, dealing with emergencies as part of their conditions of service, and have completed five full calendar years of service on 6 February 2022. 3. Prison services personnel who are publicly employed and are regularly exposed to difficult and sometimes emergency situations that have completed five full calendar years of service on 6 February 2022. The Australian Government has not yet publically supported the issue of this medal to Australians, therefore the Northern Territory SES Volunteer Association (NTSESVA) would like to request that the Australian Government support Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal to be awarded in Australia, with similar arrangements to that in the United Kingdom, as a token of the nation’s thanks for selfless service. As part of our support we call on NTSESVA members, and all Australians, to get behind this request by following the link below to a petition and adding your name requesting an Australian Platinum Jubilee Medal for Selfless Service. https://www.change.org/p/australians-for-constitutional-mon

10.01.2022 On Channel 9’s TV show Paramedics last night one of the rescues shown was the rescue at Port Campbell last year where two volunteers lost their lives during a m...arine rescue. As in most small communities people volunteer in multiple organizations. The show can be seen on 9 Now until 28 July 2020. The show pays great respect to those hero volunteers who paid the ultimate price for the community. Rest In Peace Ross and Andrew Powell. See more

He was a well-respected Volunteer Training Officer and leader, and was awarded the National Medal and the 10 year Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service Medal and subsequent 20 year Clasp. I acknowledge that Bronte’s passing is incredibly sad for members of our agency.
