23.01.2022 NTA International Women’s Day Appeal NTA has been successfully supporting women in Eastern Indonesia for the past 30 years. This year, our International Women’s Day (IWD) appeal aims to raise funds for our ikat weaving project. We support women in Flores to increase their income through weaving. Specifically, we provide training on natural dyeing, access to online markets, and facilitate product diversification. After a successful pilot project, the trainings have now be...en expanded to include more weaving groups. Help these talented women in Eastern Indonesia by donating here: https://www.givenow.com.au/ikat We hope to raise $2,500 by Sunday, 14 March, for our 2021 IWD initiative. #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021

22.01.2022 When Colin Barlow and Ria Gondowarsito worked together on a report on poverty in Eastern Indonesia in the late 1980s, they didn’t know that it would lead to lov...e, and become their life’s work. Over the subsequent thirty years, the Nusatenggara Association (commonly known as NTA East Indonesia Aid) has made a real difference to some of Indonesia’s poorest and most drought-prone communities. 18.01.2022 NTA: East Indonesia Aid is deeply saddened to hear about the recent disasters caused by torrential rains in NTT. We have also lost connection with our team in Indonesia, but expect this to only be temporary. We are praying for a smooth recovery, and send our deepest condolences to all those affected by the mudslides and flooding. ***UPDATE***: NTA: East Indonesia Aid is now able to reach our staff in Kupang and Sikka. They are safe and sound. However, communication is still limited due to large-scale power outages but we are grateful for the good news. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgyTJbMQYcU

08.01.2022 The NTA School Festival is held every year with the support of Rotary to promote pride and learning in the small rural schools of Flores. It creates so much excitment amongst these small remote communities. Last year 17 schools participated and there were 1000 spectators. The event for this year is delayed until COVID restrictions are eased.

06.01.2022 Severe floods hit the Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) province of eastern Indonesia in April 2021. These floods caused many deaths and significant damage to homes and infrastructure. NTA: East Indonesia Aid will work in cooperation with local communities and government to provide support for communities and re-establish the systems and infrastructure previously developed by NTA. This includes assisting the schools at Sumlili in West Timor with establishing temporary schooling arrangements and supplying new libraries, furniture and other small infrastructure. Please support us by donating at the link below as we help NTT to re-build after the disaster: https://www.givenow.com.au/2021floodappeal

05.01.2022 NTA: East Indonesia Aid has managed to contact our staff in NTT, and photos are coming through showing us the devastation caused to those areas. These are two schools in Sumlili (West Timor) which we supported through appeals in the past couple of years, wiped out by the floods and torrential rains. We are currently working on an appeal to raise funds for the affected communities in NTT, but you can also support some of our ongoing initiatives here: https://www.nta.org.au/ Thinking about our local partners and friends in NTT this week, as we pray and hope for a smooth recovery from the widespread destruction
