25.01.2022 This equally applies to Hunting in the NT

25.01.2022 rained again out there yesterday... dang

24.01.2022 For our BCH hunters who also hold an R-Licence

23.01.2022 BCH Block closure until Saturday for Parks and Wildlife burn -off activities. Due to the fire activity in the Adelaide River area, the Parks and Wildlife Commission has had to undertake burns along the Stapleton Track to ensure security for the BCH Block as well as the rest of the Park. Parks have seen recent fires run in leaf litter - leaf fall in areas already burnt this year, so please ensure you park your vehicle in a very safe spot before going hunting - even after th...e block is opened back up. There is also predicted rain - possible storm activity over the next few days - so lightning strikes are also a possibility in the near future. So keep this in mind when out hunting. This is a great time of the year to hunt - so get out there and do it safely.

20.01.2022 Help emergency services pinpoint your location in your time of need with the Emergency+ app. The Emergency+ app is a free app developed by Australias emergenc...y services and their Government and industry partners. The app uses GPS functionality built into smart phones to help a Triple Zero (000) caller provide critical location details required to mobilise emergency services. This may be crucial if you find yourself in an emergency situation while out hunting. Download the free Emergency+ app today from the AppStore or GooglePlay.

19.01.2022 BCH Accreditation nights for next months: Tuesday 19th May, Tuesday 2nd June For more information on how to register and be part of the NTs best hunting program go to NT Firearms Council website: www.ntfirearms.com.au or email [email protected]

18.01.2022 The NT Parks and Wildlife Commission have closed the BCH hunting block due to the weather system - possible cyclone heading our way. Well done to all the hunters who participated this year, another great year and no issues. The local PWC Manager even described the program as a real winner when I was talking to him yesterday. - so thanks and well done to everyone - we will let you know when the block will open - May or June (depending on the Wet Season). It is election year - so if you are talking to your local politician tell them how good this program is and how much better it could be if it is expanded.

17.01.2022 Hi guys please note: - be safe out there for the next few days, keep an eye on the wind and any smoke in the area you are hunting. The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that catastrophic fire conditions are expected for parts of the Top End from Thursday, 26 August 2020. It is expected that dangerous fire conditions may continue for several days.

17.01.2022 Yep - it is starting to get warm and the Goose season is just around the corner - but there is still good hunting out on the BCH block - if you walk the creeks and find the water. Well done to Robert for scoring this toothy hog last week - where did he shoot it??? -Ill tell you exactly where - in the shoulder. Get out there before it rains. Cheers

11.01.2022 If you are heading out in the bush this weekend - it might be a good idea to keep an eye on how the Cyclone north-east of here is tracking. Cheers.

11.01.2022 There are definitely fire hot spots down in the hunting block area. So keep an eye out - if rangers turn up and give you direction , you are required to follow it for your own safety and theirs - thanks

10.01.2022 If you are heading out for a hunt keep an eye out for smoke - there are a few fires getting around.

05.01.2022 I checked the entrance to the BCH Block on the way past yesterday - the country is still very wet and there are even springs coming out of the new sealed rd to the track- will be another couple of months before it dries sufficiently to allow access. Hopefully we will get some of these drying southerlies. - the pigs and buffs are gonna be fat as.. (-:

05.01.2022 Did you know that your smartphone can act like a GPS-device? Restricted Licence hunters must carry a GPS-enabled device containing hunting and exclusion zone m...aps from DPI, but this doesnt have to be a GPS unit. It can be your smartphone with a PDF mapping app! Avenza Maps stores our PDF maps on your smartphone and uses satellite tracking, which means you do not need mobile phone reception to access the app or navigate with it. Avenza Maps is available for download from the AppStore and GooglePlay by searching Avenza Maps. Please note: data charges may apply when downloading the maps from our website. *Minor R-Licence holders are not required to carry a GPS unit as they may only hunt under the supervision of a fully licensed adult, who must carry a GPS device.

04.01.2022 BLOCK CLOSURE until the afternoon of Weds Sept 4th due to FIRES in the area - sorry for any inconvenience guys.

04.01.2022 Good morning all -after the fire danger period last week/weekend, the NT Parks and Wildlife Commission has informed us: The wildfires are now under control and OK to allow hunters and bookings to recommence in the BCH block. Thank you for your understanding regarding the wildfire event and associated risks.... FYI approximately 10,000 ha in total across the Top End was burnt in one week. Sounds like a pretty hectic time for them. Remember to check weather condition predictions before heading to the block and if it is hot and there is a strong wind, keep an eye out for wildfires and smoke. Keep safe.

04.01.2022 Full Accred last night -next one will be in a couple of weeks - register at [email protected] or go to NTFC website

01.01.2022 Hi guys-we are getting a few PMs asking about BCH-go to NT Firearms Council website for information about the program and block availability-to get a BCH permit to hunt the blocks you need: 1. Do the BCH Accreditation Course. 2. Be a member of a BCH Approved Hunting Organisation, 3. Get a permit-email [email protected]

01.01.2022 Not long til the dry season guys - if you dont have your BCH Accred - we are holding an Accreditation on Tuesday night (March 3rd) at Darwin Rifle Club. Contact Alan at the NTFC or look up the website for how to enroll. The block has had a good soaking - we are thinking possibly mid to late May opening depending on how much more wet we get. - share this amongst your hunting mates... The more hunters we get involved the more we can ask the government for more areas.
