The STEAM into Alice program, a partnership between Alice Springs Public Library and Tangentyere Council started in October 2017. The main aim was to take robotics to Town Camps. The program provided access to digital technology that otherwise was not available to Aboriginal residents of the Town Camps. Its aim is to increase digital lit...eracy for Town Camp residents. The Library reached out to local schools to provide robotics workshops. At the Bradshaw Community Learning Hub students set goals with their teachers, including school attendance and behaviour. If they reached these goals they were rewarded with a trip to the library for a Robotics session. During a Library workshop five local youths, who are currently not attending school, saw what was going on and asked if they could join in. The RoboCup Junior competition was held 22 June 2017 and its main aim was to bring schools together to showcase their newly acquired skills and compete against each other in a friendly competition. If you, or someone you know is using digital technologies to build stronger and healthier Territory communities, nominate them for the 2019 Digital Excellence Community Benefit Award.
