24.01.2022 do you need 2-ply massage?

24.01.2022 Yesterday the Association of Massage Therapists advised all members to cease treating clients immediately for an initial period of 2 weeks; this advice is based on an informed assessment of the available recommendations, guidelines and emerging data on diagnosed cases of COVID19 in Australia, which includes the more stringent pre-emptive requirements for social distancing. As an Allied Health Care Professional my duty of care to my clients and population is to follow recommen...dations set out by the Australian Government. While for the past few weeks, I have also been applying very stringent infection control and hygiene protocols. Safety is my number one concern for all of my clients, some of whom are at-risk populations. Since my profession involves being in close proximity and sharing the air for an extended time in a small room, a virus like this can be spread very quickly despite the best infection control and hygiene precautions. With that in mind, I am taking this situation seriously and have decided to take action now to temporarily suspend my practice to slow the curve of COVID19 spread and lessen the sudden overload on our medical facilities locally. If you have a session booked in the next two weeks, it is currently cancelled for the time being. I do not make this decision lightly. At this stage, I don’t know how long this suspension will be in effect but I will keep you informed. I would prefer to be over cautious and err on the side of safety, rather than potentially regret not taking actions sooner. The safety and health of my clients, family members and community is paramount. Thank you for your support and understanding. See more

12.01.2022 Now more than ever, it's imperative to look after yourself, be kind to yourself and others and keep our well-being a high priority, despite what is happening around us. My Tips to say Healthy during this period of social distancing/isolation; 1. Fresh food is still abundant make sure your diet still consists of 90% fresh produce. 2. Exercise, bored of doing same routine, there are hundreds of apps to use for free there will be something to re-energize your yoga, cardio, stret...ching, building regime. 3. Challenge yourself, watch a movie or read a book that challenges the way you currently think. 4. Meditate for at least 10min per day. 5. Gratitude, spend time in gratitude for your body and the amazing work it does in the background every day. Give thanks to others for their generosity, help and their positive influence on your life. 6. Smile See more

12.01.2022 The human body emits its own light We literally glow! Research has shown that the human body emits its own visible light too low for our human eyes to see. Further research shows that this glow increases and falls depending on the time of day.

11.01.2022 Returning to Massage, Yippee, Thumbs up, starting again on the 8th of May. Here’s what I have done to ensure your health and safety in receiving a massage during covid19. Association of Massage Therapists suggested requirements; -Australian Government Covid19 training for health care professionals... -Covid19 infection control policies and procedures written into current workplace policies and procedures -contacted SA health for clarification and conformation specifically related to my services and circumstances. -Risk assessment in returning to work. As a result you will notice the place looks a little empty. State of South Australian Requirements; -comply with Covid19 pandemic and workplace protocols Personally doing and done to unsure your safety; -Temp checking clients before each appointment and regularly self checks throughout the day. -hand sanitiser available for client to use upon entering and leaving the clinic. -Highly recommending to clients that book an appointment to have downloaded and active on their phone the Australian government COVIDsafe app. Its on mine. -flu vaccination, while not yet mandatory is highly recommended for health care professionals and no this will not stop you from getting Sars-CoV2. Please note Appointments are limited as they included additional times between for sanitation of all touchable surfaces before next client.

11.01.2022 Massage Therapy is still OK with South Australian new Covid restrictions. It is not mandatory for clients to wear a face mask but are encouraged to do so.

04.01.2022 Food For Thought In 2019 a lot of research looked at the effectiveness/results of massage and while the testing was not directed towards this hypothesis the research does have many wondering. 'Long term relaxation/therapeutic massage has the same effectiveness as region specific remedial massage'... It will be interesting to see if 2020 has any research in this area.

04.01.2022 If you’re buying organic you’re paying too much! Turns out that organic farming is no safer for the consumer or environment and no evidence proves that organic food has higher nutritional value then regular farming. 04.01.2022 Is Massage Therapy Now Allowed? States and Territories have changed their regulations in regards to Massage Therapy and some Massage Associations have told their members that it is ok to return to work. At this stage only those that hold a nationally recognized Diploma of Remedial Massage can return to work is certain setting. I’m currently waiting on clarification form SA Department of Health as the wording is ambiguous and some states have requirements on how old the diplom...a can be. The Association of massage Therapists (AMT) who I’m a member of says No, the risk is still too high and this is why. 1. 80% of the population have no to mild symptoms and don’t even know that they are carriers of covid19. Asking if clients are feeling unwell does not screen asymptomatic carriers. Now that we have been keeping social distance/isolation and travel restricted for over 14 day asking questions regarding these is also becoming irrelevant. 2. It takes 2-10 day for covid19 symptoms to show, if you’re in the 20% of the population that has moderate to severe symptoms. That is 2+ days that you are contagious, spreading the virus whether you’re a client or massage practitioner. 3. In countries that have had a high death toll such as Italy, 10% of those who have died are health care workers. 4. Standard Massage Infection Control (which all massage professionals should be adhering too) and additional Covid19 infection control protocols, DOES NOT STOP Airborne Transmission. Massage requires two individual to be within the 1.5mtr buffer zone in a small enclosed room increasing the chances of transmission for both client and practitioner. AMT understands that while in some states massage therapists can return to work. AMT is requiring form those that wish and can return to work to fulfill additional requirements, policies, protocols, training and risk assessment of their practice from members. I am currently working through these new requirements, rest assured that when I do return to work it will be at the highest standard with your health and well-being in mind and not my hip pocket. Until then Stay Safe

04.01.2022 Massage and MS MS (Multiple Sclerosis) is a disease in which the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves, causing problems with vision, balance, muscle control, and other basic body functions. Swedish Style Massage is helpful in the prevention and treatment of the following Symptoms; ... Spasticity Massage can help relax muscles and enhance range of motion exercises. Pain Massage is useful in any condition in which a reduction in swelling or mobilization of tissues leads to pain relief. It can provide pleasurable stimulation, giving the person with MS a chance to relax, and relieving anxiety and fear. If massage is used as an aid for controlling pain, it should be used under the advice of a physician. Poor circulation Massage can increase blood flow through superficial and deeper arteries and veins. Massage can also increase capillary dilation through light stroking. Pressure sores Massage may be helpful in preventing the development of pressure sores but should not be used if pressure sores or reddened areas of inflammation are present.
