23.01.2022 New Town and Lenah Valley Anglican is supporting the Anglicare Tasmania Christmas Appeal. The link for members who would like to donate online is: https://www.anglicare-tas.org.au/donate/ Join us in supporting families in need this Christmas and going back to school in 2021.

22.01.2022 A short video for Palm Sunday as in tomorrow’s services we reflect on Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives (in the background) a week before Easter. This video was the first I recorded in Jerusalem in 2018 so it was pre-Covid and I had much less experience in front of a camera. But it is a privilege to share the opportunity to stand there and remember the words of the crowds that went ahead of Jesus as he rode into the city: Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! (Matthew, ch. 21, v. 9)

19.01.2022 We can’t go to the beautiful flower arrangements we usually enjoy on Sundays so Dorothy has brought some to us. There’s also a variation on our Scripture Selfie with a verse from Isaiah to look out for. Thanks Dorothy!

17.01.2022 We’re ready for our Palm Sunday Church at Home service tomorrow at 10am (please remember that Daylight Saving ends tonight). We’ll be reflecting on Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives (in the photo). If you’re new to our church and would like to join us online or over the phone please contact us so we can help you connect.

15.01.2022 To our families with young children: Colin Buchanan is gifting a live Easter Concert today at 5pm! Would be well worth watching with your children. It’s recommended to connect to his Facebook page before 5pm to enable the technology to do its thing. Enjoy!

14.01.2022 Today is #ANewDay #January26. Yesterday we were #TuningInTogether to #ChangeTheHeart of Australia. As Common Grace we are led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait ...Islander Christian Leaders to pursue friendship and Reconciliation in our lifetime. This means stepping into #ANewDay with shared truth and open eyes, ears, minds, and hearts. We are excited to launch a collaboration of poetry and song created by Brooke Prentis and Helen Wright called "A New Day". It's a great way to start your #January26. "A New Day" was created as Brooke and Helen spent time together on country and reflects a journey of deep listening, learning, spiritual connection, hope, and of course friendship. It paints a vision of a future, for all of us in these lands we now call Australia, where we learn to draw on the olds ways, to learn a new way, to step into a new day, together. With thanks to Chris De Souza for producing this track and Biz Adams for creating this film clip. Looking for what else to do today? Check out our 10 ways to engage with #January26: https://www.commongrace.org.au/how_to_engage_in_jan_26

13.01.2022 A brief service will be held at 6am together with Citywide Baptist & Lenah Valley RSL https://www.citywidehobart.org.au/anzac2020/

11.01.2022 Today we joyfully celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. We’re meeting at 9am at St John’s and 10am at St James and live-streamed via Zoom (https://zoom.us/j/5914963953). The photo is of the replica of a first-century tomb with the stone rolled away taken in Jerusalem. Today we will be reading the account of Jesus’s resurrection from the Gospel of Luke where women who followed him found his tomb empty and were asked: Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen (Luke 24.5)

10.01.2022 If you missed this song this morning due to technological gremlins Simon has kindly posted it for us.

10.01.2022 Good Friday Church at Home begins online or by phone at 10am. Today we remember that Christians live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2.20).

08.01.2022 How deep the Father’s love for us - a song to encourage us as we prepare for Church at Home - 10am Sunday.

05.01.2022 Last Sunday a team of our musicians and vocalists shared with us this beautiful reminder of God’s Amazing Grace (with the kind permission of Don Chapman who arranged this version). Thanks to everyone who contributed and to Mary who had the inspiration and co-ordinated the production online.

05.01.2022 To help us stay connected with God at home Simon and Mary have made recordings of their songs from our services. Today’s post is my personal favourite Stuart Townend’s My God. I believe they are also open to requests!

04.01.2022 This weekend the annual floral festival is on again at our neighbouring parish: St David’s Cathedral. A full program of events is on the Cathedral website.
