23.01.2022 This week NTSDE came alive with energy as we welcomed students from across the territory. Students came in from far and wide including; Tiwi Islands, Swim Creek Station, Dundee Beach, Jabiru, Batchelor, Nhulunbuy and in and around Darwin, to stretch their brains and create new synapses as they completed assessments for their Stage 2 subjects. Great job to all the students that attended, we look forward to seeing you pass the finish line soon.

Your response will help school leaders to know what is done well and what the school may need to change to improve schooling experiences. 22.01.2022 eLearning residential to commence tomorrow for Xavier students. Stage 2 Xavier students on Bathurst Island will be Zooming in during the day to speak with their teachers in Darwin getting support to finish assessments. Its also a day for setting off fireworks, but unfortunately not this year due to COVID19. Stay safe and celebrate Territory day at home or at a camp with family and friends.

The Aspire Program seeks students who are passionate, curious, willing to step outside their comfort zone, show potential for or would benefit from continued education including University, a team player, and good school attendance (>80%). The vision of the Aspire Program is that every young person in the Northern Territory can access tertiary educati...on to always be connected, inspired and supported. The Program facilitates age-appropriate opportunities for NT school students to repeatedly connect with the horizons of higher education, possible careers and life-long learning. Applications are only open to Year 10 students. The Aspire Program is an equity access program for young people who experience education disadvantage in one of the following categories: geographical remoteness Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Refugee Background First in family to go to University or Financial Hardship. Students have come into Darwin to complete work and assessments in Art, Community Studies and English. Its not long now until these students finish Year 12 and gain their Northern Territory Certificate of Education! Well done and have a great time studying at your other school away from home.

11.01.2022 This morning we welcomed Year 10 and Stage 1 Batchelor Area School students and staff to NTSDE. Students and Teachers were excited about finally meeting, and studying, face-to-face. All Bachelor students should be proud of working hard and staying on task during, Child Studies, English, Health, Mathematics, Photography and PLP lessons. Hope to see Ms Carol, Ms Stacey and students return in Term 4.

07.01.2022 Experiencing Living History and the Human Spirit 20 NTSDE History Students were honoured with a personal virtual workshop with Holocaust survivor Paul Grinwald aged 87. History teacher Toni Smid organised the session with the Jewish Holocaust Centre for the students to examine how something like this could happen, how such extreme ideas can take hold, and to think about parallels today. The unique opportunity highlighted the strength of the human spirit and how people can re...build their lives. Kai Woodall represented the students perspective when interviewed by ABC Darwin and NT News.

03.01.2022 NTSDE student are back at it again competing in this years RACI NT (The Royal Australian Chemical Institute) Australian National Titration Competition. Titration is a procedure used in chemistry in order to determine the molarity (concentration) of an acid or a base. The students had to standardise sodium hydroxide against a known concentration of hydrochloric acid. The sodium hydroxide solution was then used to determine the unknown concentration of acetic acid.
